Replacememt flex for hedge trimmer

Why can't you have the *trimmer* with its *30cm of flex* connected to a *connector as mentioned* connected to the *remaining flex with the plug on the other end*? Am I missing something?

Mine came with a plug and socket connector about 30cm from the strimmer when new.0
