Replacememt flex for hedge trimmer

Hi

Whilst using the hedge trimmer I managed to cut through the flex, how much do you think I should expect to pay for a replacement? I have a figure of £20-£30 with a max of £50, is that a reasonable price ?

I would expect that to buy a replacement trimmer easily.

Flex all depends on the length you want. I would be offended and over £1 a metre for 3 core. and cheaper for 2 core depending on what you need.
  • £20 should be more than enough to cover the cost of the cable itself but unless you have the tools and are competent to do the replacement yourself, you will also have to factor in the cost of paying someone to replace the cable for you. (this is assuming that you are not going to join the new cable to the old using a suitable waterproof connector).

Cheaper if he’s near a toolstation.

If it's only damaged or cut in a small area then you could use a cable connector for a couple of quid to join the 2 parts, but you want a decent one with strain relief

You will need an anti-tamper Torx driver - unless of course you already have one!

I wouldn't recommend that one as it's not waterproof.
I know that a sensible person wouldn't be using a hedge trimmer in the rain but it's still possible that the lead and cable connector could get wet or damp from water on the grass.

Yes I could but I cut it so theres like 30cm of flex hanging from the trimmer.

If it had been cut nearer the plug end yes I woukd have done that.

Contacted a business who do this type of work, given 3 options, 1 is to put a new flex on it, 2 is to use the remaining flex as the new one so no new flex needed, third option was to put a connector block to link the 2 pieces of flex together, cost is £30.

This is doing my head in.
Why can't you have the *trimmer* with its *30cm of flex* connected to a *connector as mentioned* connected to the *remaining flex with the plug on the other end*? Am I missing something?
