Flight diverted due to bad weather - 7hr delay

Hi
Not sure if I'm on the right board but seemed more appropriate than the main board.
Flew with Ryanair yesterday and due to bad cross winds we had two failed landing attempts before being taken to Valencia instead. Totally understand why this had to happen and bad weather can't really be helped.
However on arrival at valencia we waited almost an hour for our baggage and then 2hours for a replacement bus. We weren't provided with any refreshments or vouchers and information from ground staff was non existant.
When a bus finally arrived we sat on it for half hour before setting off, only to drive for 45 mins and then stop for a 20 minute comfort break! We finally arrived at murcia almost 7 hours late.
We departed 25mins late from Manchester and flights before / after us managed to land at murcia so had we set off on time we may have been able to land!
I believe we can't claim compensation as the diversion was due to the weather, ryanair have already emailed to say this was due to the weather and beyond their control. I agree with that but do feel the delay on arrival at the new airport and our comfort stop en route was in their control. Are we able to get any form of refund for our flight or even for the food and drinks we bought at the airport whilst waiting?
Thanks

Yes, you can claim back costs of meals and refreshments that you purchased during the delay. You'll need to send Ryanair copies of receipts. You can't get a refund for your flight.0

Thanks. I didn't think we would get anything for the flight but good to know we can get the money back for food. I've kept receipts and we only bought sandwiches and water as we knew it would need to be reasonable expenses.Lea0
