Before you start drilling check for pipes and live wires. Go to your better half's tool box and find his "Pipe and Live Wire Detector".

Speaking of detectors, anyone got a recommendation for a good affordable one?

No thanks. After checking yours and roberts homepage which are just nonsense reviews giving amateurish and incorrect information you clearly don't have a clue about what you are commenting on.
    Example,

"A sander is a tool that is used for smoothing a surface with sandpaper or any other corrosive material. It is usually used for wood cutting, cabinet making, furniture making and trim work."

    Corrosive material? Presumably abrasive material.

Only a moron would try to use a sander for wood cutting.

    That would be awesome...

I am sure they could recommend a lightweight battery powered sander to do the job for you :rotfl::rotfl:

I suspect the products available at your local Walmart in Georgia may not be available here, and will be a different voltage. From Norman Castle's helpful post I suspect that last bit may be a bit too technical for you.

You don't need a hammer drill for this, that suggestion is ridiculous. If you want original art, simply get your hammer and hit the wall several times, in random places. And there you have it, your own Handy Wallhole.
  • I know I am a newbie in wood working. But I am researching and trying to improve my skill so that, I can share authentic information with my readers.
