That's the second time you have accused someone of being rude. Methinks you maybe a little too sensitive. I'll not direct any more posts towards you and will remove the text of my last post if it makes you happier.
You were taking the P!ss. Never mind Im over it LOL0 -

As a small side issue, I am wondering why you have recently started using large fonts so often to make a point. It almost appears like you are shouting and neccesitates quite a bit of continual scrolling to read your posts.
Not neccessary in my view as you get your points over quite accurately and eloquently anyway.
djohn,
What big font posts are these?
I am abroad at the moment and using a different PC.
I have been having problems with changing texts from quotes. However I am not aware of any of my posts using text larger than this - except that quote from the Energy Saving Trust in post #13.
Someone else was complaining in another thread that they couln't change their font.
I have just looked through all 4 pages of this thread and they are all displaying to me as the same small font as everyone else(font is Verdana 2 point)
I would be interested if they are appearing large to other people.
Please let me know.0 -

Interesting Cardew, I wondered what djohn2002uk was on about regarding large fonts, however sometimes your posts display in Times New Roman size 3 e.g. post #63 of this thread.
This is what I see if I quote your post #63 and paste it into this post:
But I most certainly did pick up on it:
From Post #7 I asked just that question:
From Post #13However I, and everyone else, are apparently wrong! as from the responses they are saying that it is cheaper leaving it on constantly with the temperature set at xxC than timed with the temperature set at xxC.!!!
All to do with super efficient condensing boilers and all that irrelevant nonsense - and it is just that - nonsense! It doesn't matter how your heat is produced. Any form of electrical heating is 100% efficient(higher than any gas boiler) and would you believe it - the laws of thermodynamics apply to that form of heating as well.
As you say it is pure plain common sense that it can't work as they say and yet the flat earth society strike again cos they have carried out experiments under carefully controlled conditions and have proved all that theory cannot stand up; viz:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
espresso has beaten me to it. That is it exactly. I have also seen it in other threads recently but just thought you were trying to emphasise a point but when it got regular, I thought "What's going on with Cardew? He doesn't usually act like this"0

I use 1 unit a day in winter!
What makes me laugh a bit about this debate is that my brand new boiler has no "OFF" switch, it's always on. Thats how it's designed. I just set the temperature. Heating up a house that has been allowed to chill uses the same amount of gas than constantly topping up with very short spurts of heating. I set 2 temperatures (one for the day, one for the night), so get a constant ambient temperature that is very comfortable to live in. My house in never cold in the winter, now that I don't allow the house to get cold. All for 1 unit a day during winter.
I checked my reading on Sunday. I had used 7 units in 10 days.0 -

I am now totally confused!
Is my quote in post #79 supposed to be Times New Roman? - cos it ain't for me!!
To clarify! Your complete post #79(including the quote from my post #63) displays the same font as everone else ie. Verdana 2 point.
I have looked back through all 80+ posts on this thread and they all are Verdana 2 point and not a single word in Times New Roman size 3! including my posts.
This is typed on my UK laptop albeit I am in the 'Land of the Free' at the moment.
I have just checked my USA desktop(which I rarely use except for some US work I carry out - can't get on with the US keyboard!!) and the display for all 80+ posts is exactly as this laptop - i.e all in Verdana point 2.
All I can say is they are certainly posted in Verdana 2!!
Ain't computers strange!0 -
Re your post above; lets get into pantomime mode shall we.;)
"Oh no it doesn't!" say I
"Oh yes it does" says you.
I have every manual, website, engineer, Government publication and the law of thermodynamics on my side.
You have titeascramp on your side.
Ok I concede you are correct;)
I wish I had listened to that advice earlier as when I come to the USA I turn my heating and HW off in my UK house. I obviously should have left the heating to "constantly top up in very short bursts". Silly me I thought I was saving money by switching it off.;)0 -
Of course you were saving money by switching it off.
I hope you dont think that I said different.0
