Yes that's exactly it! Thought I had explained quite simply.
I could try changing my password on this tablet but am worried it will mess this up too
I have never had any problem with pc previously.

Ignoring the people who can't read :) I think you've got the answer somewhere above:

    User names are case sensitive
    Passwords are case sensitive
    Clear cache & cookies

Tried to reset password as it is not being recognized but that won't work either as I have not updated email address and it is going to old one which I can't access anymore.

Tried editing email address and its not accepting password so going round in circles.

Have you tried to refresh your tab and maybe restart your laptop? It looks like a glitch and does happen to some even on other sites.

Are you entering your password on the tablet or is it saved on the tablet or somewhere else like the icloud keychain? You may be able to check all your MSE credentials for your successful login on your tablet and use these on your pc.

I find this very useful if I am not sure which email address, username or password I have used.

PS This also applies to saved personal credentials on a pc.

Yes password is saved on my tablet so I don't have to log in on there.
I have all my user names and passwords written down so I know I am using the right ones.
How do i check credentials as I will only be able to do it on my tablet?

Clearly you're not as you it won't accept tbe password when you try to change your email address on the tablet. BTW, do you need to input your password when changing the email address in your profile?

I know how to do it on my iPad and the credentials are the same here as for my pc. I can also check my saved credentials on Google Chrome.

Exactly the same thing happened to me yesterday. Tablet good, laptop bad. :)

I followed my own advice to the letter. but no luck. I then reset my password and got in but next time was locked out on my laptop. I went back after an hour and logged in with my nelwly reset password which had been saved in Chrome.

One thing that may have affected it was logging in with my backup user name which also locked me out. My email said there had been a failed login and gave my IP address. Perhaps MSE has a problem with different logins on the same device from the same IP address.
