A tip for you, if you do get something delivered wrongly or find out after the driver has gone that you've received unsuitable substitutions, email the customer services (which is centralised not branch specific.) Every time I've done it, they've refunded my card for the relevant amount. Examples below:

BOGOF finest naan breads 99p each. Arrived and had gone out of date the day before. Was refunded £1.98 (even though I'd only been charged 99p) The birds and fox in our garden were well happy with their indian treat!

5 x 'Butchers Choice' chicken and turkey sausages ordered at £1.48 each (IMHO these are the finest sausages in the land!) but were sold out and had 3 x beef and 2 x Lamb delivered instead. I didn't notice them on the substitutions list until after the driver had gone. Emailed pointing out that I don't eat red meat and was refunded the full amount. Froze them and used them at a BBQ we had.

Ordered a nut roast for a vege guest we had at Xmas and they delivered a meatloaf style thing instead as a substitute. Again, they refunded the amount with absolutely no problems.

Note I was in no way trying to con Tescos with these refunds. They had simply delivered something I did not order so I felt entitled to a refund. They were happy to oblige.

The only annoying thing they do is when you order offer items such as BOGOF etc. and they deliver substitutes at full price. Any substitute items should arrive in carrier bags which are inside out so they are easy to identify. They always go straight back and the driver records the returned items there and then on his remote control signing box thing!

With the £10 (and occasionally £15) voucher codes which appear on here week in week out and all the special offers, I usually find my checkout amount is about £80 but the actual bill when it arrives is around £45. Suits me fine.

PS. BTW I agree with the poster further up. I always buy fresh veg and bread in store rather than online so I can pick and choose the freshest items.

PPS. When is Sainsburys going to follow suit! Come on Sainsburys, we want cheap shopping off you lot too!

I agree that they always resolve any problems by refunding the cost or taking back the substitution, but the point I was making is that I then had to travel to the store to get the item I actually needed. As you said above, you wanted Chicken & Turkey Sausages and they sent Beef and Lamb. You either went hungry or had to go and buy something else suitable! This is a waste of time and petrol, and completely negates the point of doing online shopping.

    Sorry for ranting!
