  • Thank you Siebrie - The Life Laundry - far more useful than the Hoarding programmes :) You would think one of the myriad channels would repeat it :)

Dark Star, didn’t see that one - I did google but didn’t recognise the presenters.

LameWolf, so sorry but I must say I love reading your posts & thank you for your wealth of experience & your willingness to share. This is what the internet is for - such a shame that so many people abuse it

Thanks Polly, I think Abusive is a little strong a word....more like being Eroded.

I feel like I am being eroded, like an exposed coastline.
With every gift given, and no thanks received,
With every favour done, and no appreciation shown,
With every assumption made of me, and every obligation placed on me,
A little bit of the soft, sandy top-soil that is my Kindness and Generosity, is being washed away,
Gradually exposing the hard, cold Granite beneath.

Sea Shell, I know exactly how you feel, it breaks my heart
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.

Yes - I must find my can of Troll Spray. :D
The great thing about "online" is that I don't have to "be me" as it were; I don't have to use my real name, and no-one has to actually witness the state I get myself into at the thought of face-to-face communication with Other People.
I think also I have a slightly odd slant on a lot of things - being childfree by choice, and following a non-mainstream religion for a start put me in the "odd" pile. :D

Mr Wolf is once more listening to utter piffle on the radio - I may switch off my hearing aids. :rotfl:

    LameWolf,

I love the idea of a can of Troll Spray :rotfl:

I was pregnant once but it was not to be & then a combination of not wanting to be that upset again, no support for my DH who was grieving as much as I was & the almost pathological fear of becoming one of those people who think they are ‘entitled’ to have children meant that we both decided to remain childless. We had our shot & as we both have siblings grandchildren were provided! So having reached that decision, we embraced it and it has meant that we are mortgage free, can be good auntie/uncle, can have wonderful holidays (Egypt, U.S.A., Canada, Iceland & New Zealand as well as Europe) and are beholden to no-one :rotfl::T
Lots of people were ‘puzzled’ to put it politely, about our decision but life is way too short to pay attention to those sorts of people. Our child free life has meant that we have always been able to financially assist family & friends rather than them getting into the clutches of banks or heaven forfend, loan sharks. We have been so lucky - DH leans towards pessimism & I generally lean towards optimism, DH is the calming influence & I am more ‘quixotic’ (being kind to myself :rotfl:) so we rub along very nicely.

Sorry to have gone on, but LameWolf you are my kind of person - an ‘odd duck’ I think is the expression which makes you far more interesting than a lot of people :)

Talk to you again I hope :o

  • Well done, Lame Wolf, you are very brave. Lots of people would not have the courage to type out the word anxiety. Keep on going , we are all behind you.
  • Hi everyone,

Starting to panic re my DSis moving in - she should be here before the end of May  & we have no idea how much stuff she is bringing & if we will have enough room

However today I stepped back & took the pressure off :) The boxes of personal stuff that were staring at me from the dining room (open plan) & that I had decided to declutter the contents of, have been ‘decluttered’ to the space that DH & I created in our spare room :o:o. My one large & one small box of wool etc have been relocated to the space created in our bedroom when we moved the bookcase to a different location in our bedroom. DH has been busy creating a space in the garage that we can fill with our 2nd fridge/freezer (currently in the dining room) once it has been defrosted & cleaned. I am only hiding the clutter, but the relief is palpable :T & the fact that there were spaces in which to relocate the clutter must mean that the decluttering done so far is making a difference :) especially bearing in mind that my DSis’s ‘bedroom to be’ is EMPTY apart from the single wardrobe in the alcove.

Now retraining the mind has to commence - “OUT OF SIGHT, IN MIND”. “OUT OF SIGHT, IN MIND”. “OUT OF SIGHT, IN MIND”

I just have to remind myself that the less clutter there is, the simpler my life will be :)

Mrs SD you are one brave lady; no way would I be able to contemplate sharing my kitchen with another woman. I even chuck Mr LW out of it on occasion. He has a habit of perching on the step stool and watching me work, which I find extremely disconcerting, so he gets told to either push off elsewhere, or do some washing up. :D

I take it you and your DSis are close? I have no siblings (my parents took one look at me and said "never again" :D ) so I can't even imagine having one come to live with me.

LameWolf, not brave just a necessity :D Her large house, the gite (holiday home) & her health problems plus the fact she lives alone all meant that she was just not enjoying life. The house & land are a money pit (from mine & DH’s pockets ) and it has taken 8 years to sell - yes you did read correctly EIGHT years  She lives in the French countryside & the French housing market is nowhere near as ridiculous as the south of England :o (our house has quadrupled, at least, in value over a 19 year period - it beggars belief!)

We are quite close but she can be moody, however with all the public transport & the fact that she has a close friend 40 miles away + we have family in London we should be able to cope :o She hates cooking so I don’t think there will be too much sharing of the kitchen :) However she does quite enjoy baking so I can see the 3 of us putting on a few pounds if we are not careful :rotfl: My DH is allowed to assist under instruction & he does cook occasionally & we share the Christmas cooking.

We shall see :rotfl: but if it gets too much I can post & all my virtual friends can help me put things into perspective :)

    See you tomorrow

  • Good evening everyone,

Well the dining room fridge/freezer has been defrosted :j No input on my part, just unplugged, & tidied up as huge lumps of ice fell. Such a joy not to make a mess & not be in a hurry :rotfl:

Tomorrow I will scrub the outside & inside plus all the fittings & then it will be moved to garage (not being plugged in) until it can be returned to active service.

Will mean more space to put all my DSis’s stuff

If the thread is still going when the three of us get back, I will start posting again. However I will be reading your posts :)
