Hi I just received a letter today saying I needed to attend an office interview it says “we need to talk you about some changes that may affect your benefits payments.” It then says we are reviewing your benefits and circumstances does anyone know what this means. I’ve had a look online and people said it means your under investigation for fraud it’s got me so worried. I know I have done nothing wrong but I’ve never had one of these letters before any information would be a big help

They go out en masse and are quite random.
Had one a few years back0 -
Ok from what Ive read online it sounded horrible I guess Ill find out when I go for the interview0

From experience they will have obtained information which has triggered a review on your claim. Have you had any changes in your circumstances that you haven't reported however small?0

Going off the threads posted on this board it seems the most common situation that causes this type of contact from DWP is that your address has been used by a partner/ex partner.0

Stop worrying, they send these out randomly, most times it is to ensure you are on the correct benefits
and you are receiving everything you are entitled to.
Let us knowhow you get on.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

What a strange reason.
If, as they said, they had reason to think that you were working that information would have had to have come from somewhere.
Then they admit that it was their mistake?
Personally I would have wanted to know what information they had and where it had come from that made them suspect that you may well have been working and claiming.0 -
Data matching most likely.... It's hit and miss! Just par for the course.0

The question could be asked but it wouldn't be answered, particularly if the information had been passed to them by a member of the public.
The comment of 'Our mistake' is pretty generic and simply means that the OP had convinced them that they hadn't been working. It doesn't mean DWP were wrong to ask the questions.0
