High growth fund ideas

Hi all
I received a bonus from work and looking to make a small investment into an IT or fund and looking for ideas. I am looking for high growth and happy to take MAXIMUM risk, one area I am not invested in is Russia – and looking at the Ishares ETF, but is Russia priced too highly and due a correction? Or should I top the Frontiers IT? If anyone has any other ideas or specific sectors it would be appreciated.
Frontiers Investment Trust
Emerging Markets
India Fund
Latin America
Asia Small companies
EM Bond fund
Property Fund
US Tech companies
Japan/Pacific
USA
Blackrock Gold
JPM Middle eastern
Not interested in UK/Europe
Thanks

Russia is one of my interests for investing...
I think that if you look at the P/E ratios then Russia is very far from being priced too highly. That suggests that there is not much scope for a correction, but of course there is a very high degree of political risk.
You also mentioned an ETF, yet Russia is the kind of environment where a good manager might add considerable value. At one point I used the Morningstar "compare" tool to look at Funds and ETFs in Russia: what was striking was that fund managers seemed to deliver similar levels of growth to ETFs but at considerably lower risk, and so gave far higher Sharpe ratios.
Of course, if you really want a high-risk "punt" then how about Neil Woodford's Patient Capital IT? I like the underlying thesis, and it is now at a pretty hefty discount.0 -
thanks for the suggestions, I was trying to take into account the fees so an IT/ETF would be cheaper but happy to consider active managed if the manager outperforms.
What do you think of one of these?

India may be a good option too with its current political scenario and government easing out the businesses0

-UK small companies is higher risk/return than the US generally. Over 10 years UK small companies represent 5 out of the 20 top performing OEIC/UT funds. You should be looking for opportunities everywhere and not ruling any area out.
-property generally isnt higher risk/return
-commodities other than gold can be very high risk/return
-biotech is a lot cheaper than it was.
-private equity funds can be very lucrative
-China
-Tech companies from elsewhere than the US.
-High risk bonds
If your list is what you currently hold I suggest you go for more focussed investments rather than "Asian small companies" and "japan/pacific".
Frontiers includes middle east, latin america and parts of asia.0 -

It is very unlikely you are looking for MAXIMUM risk. But if you are, I’d suggest mortgaging your home and any other assets and putting it all on triple leveraged trackers. Like SPXU which inverse triple tracks (shorts) the S&P500. Or maybe triple track gold with NUGT. Best of luck! Come back when you have a better articulation if your real appetite for risk.0 -
I already hold India. My commodity exposure is just the Gold mining fund. Maybe a general mining IT would be a good idea like http://www.hl.co.uk/shares/shares-search-results/b/blackrock-world-mining-ordinary-5p
Thanks for the Biotech suggestion have previously looked at it but most funds appear to hold mainly US firms and not confident holding any more US Stocks.0 -
IFA I saw recommended a pet ETF, tracking food & pharmaceuticals, and marijuana too, like HMMJ. Only place I could find was IG that offered HMMJ though!0

get down to your local william hill*, and bet £100 a time on a FOBT. get in quick, before the government reduces the maximum stake (currently £100, could go as low as £2)!
*other betting shops are available, but i hold shares in william hill

Assuming you don't really mean "MAXIMUM" in the literal sense, then an individual share is MAXIMUM risk, and there are plenty of those you can take a recovery gamble on.0 -

I had a look at the Russia ITs available but did not like the look of any of them.
On the Neptune: I don't see any sense in mixing Russia with Eastern Europe ("Greater Russia") since understanding the economy of (say) Hungary or Turkey would not help the manager in making decisions about Russia.0
