scam via vodafone

Hi

Our daughter received a text message this morning on her pay as you go mobile claiming to be from vodafone, when she phoned back the number it was a scam from someone claiming tio be from 02. Hubby did not like the sound of it and called vodafone, who reported back to him saying that it was a scam, and nothing to do with vodafone, and she was passing it on to her manager for action.

Hi,

You're right to be cautious with things like this. If you're ever unsure about a phone call or a text message from someone you're not expecting, ask more questions to them before you give out any details. If you're not confident that it's genuine, tell them that and hang up.

Most genuine companies will only contact you for general info/competitions through your bills or statements anyway so that you can be sure where it's from.

I'm sure Vodafone will look into this and get it stopped if it is a scam before people get stung by it.

i have had four messages in the last 2 weeks from 0800 1987777 , its says vodafone customer , you have been selected for a free phone and goes ont ot say line rental etc..... gave it a call and its some other phone company offering people pretending to be vodafone or at least wording it like that...
