I'm looking for some (much needed) help, on how to get an audio recording into a transcribed text document.
What, and/or how, is the easiest way for me to do this?
Could I have the easy version please?

What equipment do you have already?
iPhone?
Android Phone?
There are apps available to convert speech to text. You may have to play the recording back through a speaker and hold the phone up to the speaker
What format is the recording in?0 -
Sorry, It's an iphone recording.
Currently, it's in M4a format.
Tbh, it means nothing to me.0 -

Thank you.
I have typed all kinds of key words into google and it never came up with any of these results before.
Just onto it now!0 -
Well I have done every step it told me to.
It hasn't transcribed very well at all, with the machine transcribing. And it wants to charge me over $100 to be manually transcribed!0 -

They often don't.
Transcribe it yourself? You just need software that maps a button to pause the playing (proper transcribers usually use a foot switch or pedal to control speed).0 -

It's got words in there that weren't even in the original meeting!
Think I'll have to try that, as an alternative, as it's over an hour long and I just can't keep up.0 -
Wasn't there a thread here a week or so ago asking a very similar question, where someone was using Google's audio to text conversion (in a web browser) but it was pausing when the browser lost focus?0

I've just been playing with this one (in Chrome), it's OKish with me speaking clearly, but hopeless with a recording.0

Youtube's automatic subtitler is fairly decent, I don't know if that uses the same engine as the Google one and if not whether you can access it as a standalone app. Otherwise you could add a static image to turn it into a video and upload it privately.0
