Can I cancel Sky because of price increase?

In Feb I called Sky and after threating to cancel I got a reduction of £10 a month plus HD for free providing I signed up for an 18 month contract.
I've just had a letter saying my cost is going up £2.14 a month.
Can I call again and threaten to quit again, can't really quit as wife won't let me, or am I stuck because I just signed up for another 18 months?

You can't force them to give you anything but you can only ask, sounds like you know what to do anyway.0 -
You can threaten to quit all you want, but if you go in there all guns blazing you are more likely to be met with 'I'm terribly sorry sir, but you are in a contract for the next 17 months.'
The softly softly approach is probably the better angle, as Sky hold all the cards here and you don't really have anything to negotiate with.
Good luck.0 -
Sky allow you to cancel your contract if you have a price increase mid contract.
They dont have the same terms as phone providers which allow prices to increase at the same rate as inflation. Or the didnt last time i checked.
If you dont have an offer they may offer you something i.e a one off credit or if you are already on a best offer they may have to cancel you.0 -

Not for TV they don't.
There are no rights to cancel TV free of charge due to price increases like there are with LR/BB.They dont have the same terms as phone providers which allow prices to increase at the same rate as inflation. Or the didnt last time i checked.
Sky TV have had an 'up to 10% annual price rise' in their contracts for many years.
Edit: This is the specific term:Will the price of my subscription(s) rise during the Minimum Term?
.......will not be more than either 10% of the standard price of your Option or the increase in the UK Retail Price Index over the last 12 months before we tell you about that price increase, whichever is greater.0 -
What about cancelling cause they have changed their terms and conditions, in the email I received they also mention they are changing terms and conditions in regards to early cancellation, would this be grounds to cancel sky tv?0

I rang Sky tonight to cancel my subscription as prices have risen for both TV and broadband.
I can cancel my broadband even though I am still in contract but not the TV as the price rise is less than 10%.
I thought I saw on the Martin Lewis programme you were entitled to cancel if there was a mid rise price increase and I don't remember him stating this percentage?
Would be interested in opinions please.0 -
