Yes I'd be asking why its been removed, probably because of other issues. Its a common quick and cheap fix to remove the drive shaft

Unfortunately I cannot ask why it was removed as the lady I brought it from has subsequently passed away.

Warning: Pet peeve beyond this point, since you missed my subtle nudge earlier.

Brought is the past tense of the verb "to bring"
Bought is the past tense of the verb "to buy"

They are different words, and they mean different things.

Bit hard to claim that when you didn't find out a major part of the drivetrain was missing until the service, something that just sticking it in 4WD would have revealed but lesson learned.....

You do not know my personal situation. I was simply reaching out for help not to be insulted

And the answer is "How long IS that piece of string?"

Fitting a new driveshaft and wheelbearing is fairly cheap and quick.
But the big question is why the shaft was removed in the first place.

And the likely answer to that depends on which one of the two completely different vehicles bearing the GV badge around that time you are driving...

Sounds like it could be expensive if the shaft was removed because other parts of the transmission had issues

Did you buy a 4 wheel drive vehicle so you could get around in snowy weather? If so you would be far better leaving it with 2 wheel drive and spending your money getting some all weather tyres.

Sorry, I mean I'd ask myself that question, the answer would no doubt be because there is something else wrong in the drive train, not just the fact the shaft is missing. Unless you need 4 wheel drive I'd leave it
