The only reason I am with bt is because of the discounted bt sports. Hubby is football mad. I have just found this

Get BT Sport on your Sky box

On December 15 2017, we announced an agreement with BT which means that Sky customers will be able to include BT Sport as part of their overall Sky subscription for the first time.
It's expected that these new services will be available from early 2019.

Does that mean I could switch to any providers without having to worry to pay bt sports at full price? ThanksBT

Nobody knows what Sky will charge. There have been no details yet on pricing or structure.

Considering it's a deal where Sky get BT Sports and BT get:-
What does this mean for BT TV customers?
Sky will make our NowTV streaming service available on the BT TV set-top-box. As a retail agent, BT will sell NowTV on Sky’s behalf, offering BT TV customers access to NowTV’s most popular channels including Sky Atlantic, Sky One, Sky Living, Sky Sports and Sky Cinema.

Don't expect there to be massive undercutting of each other. That will be part of the agreement and all it comes down to is a duopoly of the football. We, the customers, will probably not benefit at all.

I agree that any cost saving is unlikely.

Rather, it just means both suppliers will offer easier (not cheaper) access to the services of others.

This isn't an arrangement to create competitive pricing, but rather to combat piracy.
  • BT Sport is already available on Sky, My Sky Q has this already. I get it free with my Broadband with BT!

    No it's not.

It currently comes direct from BT, not re-sold by Sky.

Certainly, you've always been able to purchase from BT for viewing on a Sky decoder. That's not the same.
