Sounds like the problem is your part time income. You can no longer live off the full time work of your husband, so will have to earn enough to support yourself and your family abroad. If your child is grown up, why can't you work full time?

Ok an update to what has happened.

I was actually offered a place to stay for the next 2-3 weeks so for now at least I have somewhere.

A lot of people have been saying for me to switch to full-time and this is exactly what I'm going to do, the only reason I've been part-time is because of some mild aches and pains.

Could my parents live without my cash? Yes they could but they wouldn't be comfortable and would really need to worry about their finances. I would sacrifice a lot of things to keep my parents happy.

Thankfully we don't really have anything that is joint and by leaving there won't be any financial problems.

If you move out make sure the joint tenancy is ended or you'll still be on the hook for the total rent.

Find out if you might be entitled to some benefits as that could help ease the transition.
