When I connect my Windows 10 laptop to my non smart Samsung tv using a micro hdmi to hdmi lead I get the picture on the tv fine but the sound only plays thru my laptop's speakers and not thru the tv's.
Any ideas why or how to rectify this?
I have tried a different tv hdmi socket but it made no difference. Sound still only came thru the laptop.
Many thanks.

Perhaps on the settings there's some setting to change sound from "Headphones" to "Other". Failing that you might have to use the headphone socket on lappy to headphone socket on TV.0

See audio settings on tv. If tv doesn't support external audio try to plug speaker on to your laptop or tv if your tv has a 3.5 jack for audio speakers.0

Settings on TV lists output as TV speakers or external. Neither allows the sound from the laptop to come thru the TV speakers.
Plugging a double ended 3.5 jack lead into headphone socket on TV and lappy just mutes all sound!

Go into the audio settings on the computer and change the output to the TV.0

When I right click on the task bar speaker icon, there is an option for 'playback devices' It should have the hdmi option when connected.
I have a laptop that sometimes decides not to give any sound over HDMI - reconnecting the lead then switching the tv on/off sometimes works0 -

strictly speaking hdmi does not support sound from pc to screen, You do get modified cables which have a jackplug so that they can be pluged in your laptops headphone socket - ebay0
