Will my Sky Card work in France?

Going on hols next week to France. The villa we are staying in has satellite TV but only very few channels apparently (parents are already there). No ITV or Ch4 :eek:
Does anyone know - if I take my full package Sky card with me, is there any chance this will this work?
Sorry if it's a completely dumb question, but I just have to see the final episode of Desperate Housewives!!!

Unless the dish and STB are configured to receive UK Sky broadcasts, I'd imagine this will be a non starter.I haven't been asked to tell you that I'm the [highlight]Board Drunk[/highlight] for this board. As the night wears on, my posts will become worse, with simple spelling mistakes, inane ramblings, and a blatant disregard for the truth. How do I find this out - if they are getting any Sky Sports channels, or Sky one for example, then might it work?
Would rather leave the card here if I know it isn't going to work, so at least when I set the video will get a decent digital picture rather than the usual crappy ch4 via the video picture.0 -
Yes......those channels would be a good indication that this was the case, but not definitive. TBH, it sounds like the channels your parents already have are the FTA channels on UK Sky, (BBC1-BBC4) No C4 or ITV. Hold up, just got a text from them - no sports (he he, that will please hubby no end!) but sky news and sky one definitely.

hi doesnt isn't your sky card encoded so it will only work with the digi box you purchased it with. You may want to check this.0

hi i used to work for sky not so long ago.This will work provided that you keep a uk address and bank account and dont phone them from abroad you will however need to take all your equipment ie box dish remote and have it set up to the right satalite not to sure which one it is out there check the link plenty of info on there in the satalite forums if i can put it in right https://www.digitalspy.co.uk hope this helps0

Thanks, not really an option to take the box as it's too big to take on the plane in addition to the rest of our gear.
