Ooooooh, I haven't been accused of working for eBay for ages now as I thought we were really only attracting grown up posters nowadays. :rotfl:

I'm 100% with Soolin on this one, its almost impossible to see where a 3rd party seller on amazon is based. How can any buyer make an informed choice of seller if he/she is lied to or deliberately mislead by the Seller information.

eBay wants to be an amazon clone and sadly they seem to be succeeding in this regard as it is becoming more difficult to spot lying overseas sellers on their listings now.

I'm amazed that eBay seem to consider this a positive buying experience. I do not.

Frankly a lot of the recent eBay changes have hindered, and not helped, the buyer experience. I fear eBay may be losing the plot a little .

I make no secret of being a fan of Amazon but that is something that infuriates me too. The simplest way round it is to wait to the last page before complete checkout when you can see delivery times.
I have heard that they were planning to do something about it but that was a couple of years ago and they haven't bothered since.
The main problem is that both Amazon and Ebay want a bigger share of the Chinese market, to do that they need to get on side Chinese sellers.

I agree about the Chinese sellers seemingly being encouraged on eBay and Amazon, my own experience is eBay where I can be pulled or warned for something that a Far East seller appears to get away with. Just a few days ago I once again came across sellers listing base metal as sterling silver, and fake scI fi 'cult' items - yet I'm still arguing with them about a genuine military item that I can't list.

I did discover a while ago that it isn't always Chinese sellers being dishonest. "Leather", as far as I can tell can be anything that looks like leather no matter where it derives, they don't seem to differentiate between genuine and lookalikes.

On another forum I read there is a current discussion going on about what leather actually is, a seller is insisting that vegan leather is a 'thing' and it is still leather despite not coming from an animal. She is arguing that she does not have to mention that it is man made or faux, as that is something entirely different and vegan leather is real leather.

The argument has to be seen to be believed.

I've just bought an item made from silk, that in itself was a quest as so many people are selling 'real' silk which is 100% polyester, I almost gave up!

Suggest she label it as vegan leather ? Must be a selling point, surely...
