Is this picture photoshopped or real?

My dad used to have a peaked cap just like that! It also had the old CCCP text on it!

It was given to him by a Russian trawler man at Chatham docks many, many years ago ... he most certainly was not a communist or anything like, quite the opposite!

The one behind a red background is edited. It's obvious and the face isn't event proportioned and stretched vertically.

The photo was not altered. We often recycle backdrops when covering stories of a similar theme, in this case Russia, and will include an image of an individual if they are the focus of the story. Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson has also appeared over this backdrop previously.

My dad would agree with her absolutely - he spent a year in Russia a a student in the depths of the then Cold War & was coached by fellow students in living with cold ears rather than a dumb reputation.
As a Scot, he was off to a better start than some.
