O/S Daily Saturday 17th March 2018

This is an !!!8220;over the garden fence!!!8221; type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It!!!8217;s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we!!!8217;re going to do today or what we!!!8217;ve achieved already. Everyone!!!8217;s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn!!!8217;t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don!!!8217;t post large pictures, or clip art !!!8211; links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don!!!8217;t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH and I both enjoying first peaceful cuppas, he's watching some catchup tv whilst I'm surfing on here. Both boys still in their pits.

No snow here as yet, but we're expecting some at some point during the next 24 hours - we'll see. I can hear the blustery wind too.

Dinner last night was chicken and bacon kievs, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, ice cream for dessert for the menfolk. I had a vegetable and giant cous cous dish, that I found in the freezer, I added some mushrooms and a green pepper that was well past it's best, at least it's made another small gap in the freezer. Tonight we'll be having chicken curry and I'll probably make a veg curry too, I have loads of accompaniments in the freezer so I'll dig some of those out too, I've also got naan breads.

Yesterday was reasonably successful, the WM is mended but fridge freezer awaiting new parts which the engineer is coming back to fit next week, he'll then do a reading and if that isn't right then it will not be repairable and they'll replace it.

I also got the food shopping done first thing and had just got in when the engineer rang and asked if he could visit earlier than the appointment time, which was convenient and he did. Once he'd left I got the remaining washing dried then ironed and put away. The soup got blended too, so I'll have soup for lunch whilst the menfolks have cheese burgers. I'll be having a go this week at using up items from the fridge freezer - as if next week it needs to be replaced I need to move the contents - and the other freezer is full and we don't have the big camping fridge anymore - we sold it just after selling the caravan.

So on to today -

First thing I'll be heading into town to visit the building society. We'll be visiting the parents this afternoon too.

Keep safe and well x

Morning all, and thanks NMLC for starting off.

There are a few flakes of snow falling, and it's absolutely bitter, the outside thermometer is on zero, and the wind is brrr. This winter just won't go away.

Yesterday was a quiet day, and last night I visited a friend, just locally, I was able to walk there and back.

What delights does today hold, i wonder - I must do a bit of grocery shopping. Ever since the last snowy weather, I've just got by on using stuff out of the freezer, and buying veg and bread. We now need more than that, so will get out this morning for some proper shopping.

Tonight we are going with friends to the theatre in Newcastle to see the life story of a popular local comedian (now deceased), should be good.

I hope Holly is ok, and thoughts to everyone who is poorly, sad ,or worried about something.

    Take care folks.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

There is no sign of any snow here, just lots and lots of rain but it doesn't feel too cold which is just as well seeing as I am sat here with the back door open. I watched the film Baby Driver last night with Lilly and really enjoyed it but my dreams last night were full of me being driven around by the main character :D and seeing as he was a getaway driver I felt exhausted when I woke up :rotfl:.

Steve and the girls are still fast asleep. He has managed to book some extra time off work so I am looking forward to having him around for a few more days than usual. The grandchildren are coming over today as well so it will be a good day today.

We are having shopping delivered this morning so I will have to go and get washed and dressed in a minute. I am also feeling rather hungry so will investigate the contents of the fridge. I fancy dippy eggs and soldiers so I hope there are a couple of eggs left for me.

My desk is a disgrace so will spend 10 minutes cleaning and sorting it out. I also have yet more washing to do as I called a towel amnesty and now have a full basket and a half to wash.

Well I had better crack on so I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Brr bitterly cold but woke up to less overnight snow than expected. However, they say there is more to come! I am so sick of snow this winter. We had the first falls in November and it's been on and off ever since. Surely this will be the last of it!

I don't think we shall be venturing out today as it looks deadly underfoot. What snow there is looks frozen solid. Not safe for Mr TA with his mobility problems. But I have a birthday card and some money to post for great nephew so will have to wrap up warm for the walk up to the post box before it's emptied mid morning - and try and keep on my feet!

Not a lot planned for today other than keeping warm and maybe watching a few missed programmes on catch-up. Plus meal making and a bit of pottering.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for all the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely who want them. Thinking of HOLLY. Take care all xx

Bah I have just remembered I have something to pick up from Boots that I ordered into store. Got a text to say yesterday saying it was now ready for collection so I may venture out after all!

Morning all and thank you for starting today's thread nmlc.

After yesterday's sunshine, the temperature has dropped, the wind is howling outside and we have had snow - it has not stuck so far and it has stopped for now. OH did the Saturday shopping yesterday because he thought the sm would be extra busy today.

Yesterday I blitzed the bathroom, though I do need to put the shower curtain in the wash but at present the machine is busy doing clothes. I cleaned the kitchen including the floor but someone, probably me, has spilt something. On second thoughts, that can't be me because I'd have wiped it up. I think that will do for housework other than hoovering the sitting room yet again.

I don't plan on going out at all today. The pavements are likely to be very slithery and there is nothing I really need to go out for.

Hoping that everyone has a good day, with special thoughts for those who are sad, worried or unwell.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

WE had a light dusting of snow in the night, it has just started again, a few lazy flakes drifting down. The heating is on, but I am going to light the sitting room fire.

The Fencer ran into problems yesterday so did not get to us, he is hoping to come this morning, we will see.

OH is planning a marathon TV watch today, back to back rugby.......hmmmm might need to shut myself away somewhere.

Stay warm everyone, it is going to be cold, thermometer has dropped 12o overnight...brrrr......

Cheese and potato pie and beans for supper tonight. Will have to use the top oven in the cooker, only the second time its been used.

Haven't posted in a while but read every day. Just been through the changing password issue some of you had a couple of weeks ago. Needed to be at home to use the laptop to change it as too much hassle on the phone.

((((((Hugs))))) to anyone having a hard time at the moment especially Holly.

It has been a busy start to the year with my dad being very ill in hospital and having to travel up and down to EA every week. My sister and EXOH have also been in hospital this week so it was no wonder when I finally succumbed to "the dreaded lurgy" as some of my colleagues call it on Thursday. Went to work yesterday morning and have spent most of the time since wrapped up in bed with lemsip. I suddenly realised I have only had one weekend at home in the past 6 or 7

DH came in from his shift at 6 so have been awake for a while and thought I would log on..
Very windy out and have seen smatterings of snow so think I will stay indoors wrapped up and send DH out for the shopping with the list I have made.

I'm not sure who mentioned it the other day but we are booked to stay at the Compton Swan for a couple of nights over Easter. It looks lovely and will be just what we both need. It will also mean we can see the DGC on the way home for an afternoon as they will be on the way back.

Looking forward to hearing news on the new arrivals.

Hope everyone stays warm, safe and well. I'm going back to bed might do a puzzle on my phone. I found a site and it has become a great way to make the daily commute go quicker.

    Love and hugs

Awoke to a blizzard of fine snow which has now stopped, hope that is all we get but have to wait and see.

So sunny and warm here yesterday, used quite a few spoons digging out weeds and raking out leaves from the borders, when OH came back I told him that I had a lovely time and felt like "the old me", I do so hope that it lasts and that these conditions I have are under control now.

I had wanted a little trip out somewhere today, but it looks so cold, I don't think it will be worth it, don't want to go shopping, a NT visit, but I have a fascinating book to read and would like to do some baking and perhaps try out my new hand mixer.

Thinking of Holly, copious amounts of hugs and spoons to all that are poorly, bereaved and having visits from the black dog, clocks change soon, surely it will be more spring like then and give us all a boost.

    Morning everyone.

Like others we have had a light dusting of snow overnight, it is absolutely freezing out there and little dog literally run out to do her business and run back in again! I made sure that Lu’s biggest rug was on top of the rack and attached the neck cover as well so hopefully she will be warm enough when she goes out.
Such a change from yesterday when I managed to get all the washing dried outside and had the windows opened giving the house a good blow through. Today will all be about snuggling down and keeping warm, will pop out later to check on the horse and also need to pick up something in town.
I have a butternut squash that needs using up so will roast that and have some for tea with couscous etc and the rest should make some soup.
Good to ‘see’ you again NRA hope you feel better soon.
Hugs to all other poorlies and those with worries, thinking of Holly x

Have a good day folks x

    Morning all

Dr went well yesterday I walked in there and promptly burst into tears :o I managed to get out that I was exhausted all the time and gave him a written list of other symptoms, he has ordered a load of blood tests and told me he thinks its either thyroid or the menopause, both of which he can help me with, he has also signed me off for two weeks as he said I looked shattered and needed a good rest, I do have to say I m very glad as I just could not keep going as I was.

Today I am off for my London treat with my dd, in an ideal world I would have put if off for a while and hope I felt a bit better but Im sure I will love it once we are there, we have afternoon tea booked at three and then a late dinner tonight and cocktails :T tomorrow we shall wander around for a while and maybe some shopping before coming home.

No snow here yet but its due at 11 so we shall see, its meant to snow all day and night so I hope we don't get stuck in London !

Have good days all and thank you again for being lovely xx

It has been trying to snow for a couple of hours now and has just stopped. Youngest dd and older dd and sil are coming over at some point so I want to cook a big lasagne with lots of veg in it.

Have just washed my hair and had a nice warm shower and then need to get dressed and look out good grip boots as I need to walk to local shop for bread, cheese, eggs and potatoes and the tea bags youngest likes.

Not sure when everyone is coming over and think they are staying overnight so want to have enough in for breakfast and maybe a quick lunch.

    Holly
Virtual hug and we are all thinking of you and hope you will feel better and safer soon.

Take care in this weather all of you and stay safe and warm.

    Hugs to all
