House near an Artillery Base
Comments
-
The ground within the artillery base is very likely contaminated by explosives, which are toxic. This will very likely show up in the environmental searches. Not likely to be a problem if you have mains water, but if you source groundwater (e.g., borehole, well) then it could be a major problem.
I thought we had established this is a city centre barracks rather than a firing range or the like? More likely to be contamination from diesel etc.0 -

My bad. Didn't read the whole thread. The artillery base was quite misleading. I'd assumed (reasonably) a firing range."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -
We currently rent on a military base ,a perk of my husband's job. If your concerned about noise I wouldn't worry usually the soldiers will do exercise on base but as standard will go elsewhere for the ranges .We hear gun fire once every now and then but it's rare .
Also pop into to the guard room at the barracks and just have a chat with them the guys in the guard room aren't usually attached to that regiment or company so they will be a bit more open as they usually live nearby and work a lot of hours at the base day and night .
Also find out if it's an raf, navy or army ECT as this will give you an indication of the sort of stuff their be doing as they all have different ways of doing things .
Before my husbands current role he was infantry and even then we rarely heard any noise .
If your concerns are over war ,attack ect personally I wouldn't worry being in a city centre unless it's an air attack anyone would be stopped before anything big could happen in my personal opinion.0
