Write off overpayment help needed

Hi. My car was written off in December 2017 and insurance company agreed a figure of £1200 less 250 salvage cost as I wanted to keep vehicles. They however sent a cheque for the full amount, £1200.

I contacted them and they said they would put a stop on that cheque and pay correct amount £950 directly into my bank. Strangely again they paid the full amount of £1200 into my bank.

They’ve now realised their error and are requesting me to refund the £250 to them. I imagine I have to?

If you don't they will pursue you for it of course!

If you did indeed keep the salvage from the written off vehicle you have two choices. 1) return the salvage or 2) keep the salvage and return the £250 over payment. End of !
