Your solicitor sounds fine to me. Maybe his manner is not the best, but it sounds like he is reachable and is giving you legal advice.
Unless you want to pay an extra set of legal costs for a different firm to represent your lender, please understand that the solicitor is also acting for the lender.
He is your lender's solicitor just as much as he is your solicitor. He has to follow your lender's instructions. He can't hide things from the lender.
If you are happy to proceed without planning permission on the loft, that is absolutely fine. Just instruct your solicitor that you have noted his advice but are happy with the situation and willing to proceed.
The real issue is how your lender feels about it. He will have to tell the lender and find out what the lender wants to do. Best to do that sooner rather than later.0 -
My goodness, an upfront and (from what I can gather) honest solicitor that has your interests at heart.
You are a FTB, and many conveyancers understand the idiosyncrasies of the FTB and will go 'above and beyond' to do what is best for them.
Perhaps their manner appears unprofessional but they are trying to convey their thoughts in a friendly way and you have taken it wrongly ?????????0 -
