Nor is it nonsense that never works. I have read many accounts of it working,
Would you like to give us a clue where you have read these 'many accounts', post a few details then we can all have a read.
  • There was a website called getoutofdebtfree.com/.co.uk, which has now shut down. I read stories in the forums there.
The important thing is it has worked for me. I'm not advising it. I'm not saying its right. All I'm saying is I tried it twice (for the same debt) and it worked both times. It did not affect my credit score as it was not related to a credit agreement, it was an overpayment from the Student Loans Company.

The point is, you'd have achieved the same result with a single letter, as opposed to the mystical three.

The number of pieces of paper, envelopes and stamps has no bearing on the enforceability of a debt.

As above, and explained in great detail in other parts of this old thread, you only need send the provit letter, all the other "freemen of the land" type rubbish just make you look silly.
It all boils down to the creditor been able to prove liability for the debt, no more, no less.
