You've been asked, what about your travel insurance?0

If the booking is for just you and your partner and you cant pay, then thats it. You cant pay. You wont go to jail. They wont send sny heavies around. If they want they may pursue you via court. They may not bother.
If however you are the lead passrnger on s GROUP booking then you are screwed unlesd the rest wjo are trsvelling absorb the costs0 -
The tickets are clearly special fares which are non refundable. Travel Republic do not sell package holidays, they sell components that you chose to book through them. They will have to pay Delta the fare due and they will therefore expect you to pay them the full cost of the tickets. There may be a reduction for APD (around £75 per person) which may not be payable if you cancel but many discount fares do not even permit even that. Your only hope is your travel insurance which you bought when you booked your holiday but if you decided to wait you are in real trouble. Around 40% of claims on insurance occur before travel so not buying it may cost you dearly.
Travel Republic will not let this go, they have a team of lawyers at their Head Office, they have to pay the airline, it is only fair that you pay them0 -
Sorry newbiehere, didn't mean to give you false hope.
Thanks PW for putting me right. I thought it was too good to be true, just checked the article again :-/0 -
I was reading an article last week which said that although the cost of your flight's are non refundable, the airport taxes are always refundable. I can't find the article at the moment but I kept a copy on my laptop, when I'm on my own laptop tomorrow I'll post it.
Airlines and travel agent can charge a fee to refund it. Often exceeding the duty paid.0 -
In general all taxes and fees can be refunded if the TA's or airlines choose to.
For example BA will not refund US XF and ZP (USA) charges on a non refundable ticket but will on a refundable ticket.
From BA Trade website
Non-refundable tickets: only Government and/or Airport taxes will be refunded.0 -
