  • ladygrim pay as much as you can - first go for the higher rate cards & the the lower etc...I wouldt take out a loan as tey lull you int a false sence f security & you start spending again! See if you can get a 0% Balance transfer for the rest & away you go! Plus loans usually have an early resettlement fee & you can rarely overpay if you can theres usually a higher rate of interest! Much better to just dig in & pay off what you can when you can!
My savings have now gone but I end the month with all stuff brought (except food & cellotape!!) even so thats good! CC will go up a bit as I put my car tax on it (cashback) but got 60 cashback this month & have an excellent pay packet due in Jan so will make up for lost time then! Hang in there debt busters - new year, new start!

  • yahoooo sub 29,000!!
Would have been more but my boilers packed up (see diary) so less paid off this month than I wanted but this is where the savings vs paying off cc leaves you vulnerable when you got for the CC option! Thankfully its conked out on pay day & they did pay us backdated pay but wheeeee se that pay go - its now all gone on a new very large & shiny part (which I collect tomorrow) costing about 170 & then god knows how much for labour (not over 200 they promised!) so the plumber can fix it this enabling me to have hot water & heating. Yes before you ask its flipping freezing here!! Thank goodness for my fan heaters!

  • ISOM I hope you managed to get your heating sorted out and at not too much cost. Well done on the balance going down.
Penguin i am the same this month. I am looking at all the money I am spending and keep thinking how good my debt total would be if I was paying it all off my debt rather than for crimbo. Never mind I am having lots of fun this far xx

  • Hi everyone , I haven't been around much for a couple of weeks due to working extra shifts. I haven't slipped too much on debt repayment despite not sticking to my normal plan of transferring spending money into seperate account. I also had a weekend in a 5* hotel which was pure extravagence - £14 for 2 drinks plus 10% tip  but I got the room half price on Hotelnet and it was my only "holiday" this year!

I started my DF journey in absolute despair in early Sept at £15400, I finished this year on £13916. I also reduced my overdraft down to £850 from £1100 (which isn't included in my figures as I live in it anyway.

It would have been more if it hadn't been for Xmas but at least I haven't added Xmas debt to figures, it was all budgeted and paid for a few weeks ago.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for your support, I am finally entering a new year in a positive frame of mind and strong in the knowledge that I will be debt free within 4 years without adding the damn thing too my mortgage as usual!
Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time

Hi all - is everyone all set for Christmas?

I will be opening pressies with the kids and OH christmas morning when he gets home from work about 7. Then its a nice breakfast and off to see to the horse. When we get back OH off to bed and I'll go to my mum and dads for dinner. Then its off to the horse again and back home just as OH leaves for work!

Wouldnt be Christmas unless it was a mad rush round everywhere! xx

Ready for Christmas? Nope, not a hope. Keep thinking that perhaps if i pretend it itsn't happening it might all go away!

Im sure they missed 2 weeks of December out somewhere. I remember saying I wanted all my shopping done by the end of November and then suddenly I only had one week left to do it!
