Hi Happy and Scooby, thanks for the welcome!
Not much to tell really, am 32, live with my DH, dog and cat in a house that needs complete renovation! Got approx £33,000 of debt some of which is a loan from my lovely DH to clear some of mine. It came out of his inheritance though so I feel really bad about it and need to get it back to him asapMy debt has come about partly from funding 2 OU degrees, a car (only 3k though) and just general spending too much!
We have a house full of clutter, some of it is ours and the rest is stuff that we cleared from my MILs house that we need to sell on. So this really needs to be done before we can do the house up. It gives me time to get on with the debt clearing though, so we can then afford to get it done!
I've been lurking on this thread for ages so I know you are all lovely :A"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Hi jwill, how much of debt is been charged at intrest? It sounds like either eBay or a carboot could be an option to earn some extra pennies and maybe put tht to use on intrest debts and then you can pool the inheritence cash back to oh and think about renovating your home:-) have you posted a statement of affairs? Maybe we can guide you on where savings can be made. It's normally alot more roudy but maybe people are on hols or have gone AWOL :-)! Oh I should do ebay or carboot-I'm so lazy about it  I have loads & loads of stuff-much too much for my stamp sized cottage
It's really stupid but I don't want to get a tiny amount of money for things & clothes that I paid alot more for (:o) which is idiotic as quite clearly any amount I get would be a brilliant help with C/Cs & also for being able to get into my bedroom :wall::rotfl:

Thanks guys for the advice. We've been car booting like mad since my MIL passed away and I've had loads on ebay - seriously, there is so much to sell. Did you ever watch How Clean is Your House? It was like one of those houses where you can't get in, but without the dirt . We've donated so much to charity and sold huge amounts already but there is still loads left (this money is not mine either so it doesn't help with the debt repayments). I do have a reasonable amount of my own stuff to get rid of too - especially books, my to be read pile is ridiculous. Luckily though I tend to read and re-sell so they don't wind up costing me anything and on occasion I can make a small profit which all helps! I don't like having a lot of stuff (other than books) so I don't struggle to get rid of things that don't have sentimental value.
I'm really nervous about ebay at the moment though with their trying to get high volume sellers to register as businesses. I'm selling a lot of the same stuff and don't want to get penalised when in reality I will be ebaying like mad for a while and then hardly ever.
On the good side though, we sold over 100 books on Sunday at the car boot sale (I bought another 10, but we won't talk about that :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:)
I haven't posted up my soa yet as we've only just moved in Feb, so am still not sure of what the monthly bills/usage are - especially with regards to gas/electric. I do read others on here though so am pretty aware of what I can do, though I will post one when I've got a clearer picture of things."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Hi jwill whos is the money then if you are selling ?? should they not be selling if theres so much seems highly unfair that you take the most of it :PI AM A MONEY MAGNET, THEY ARE MAKING MORE MONEY FOR ME AS WE SPEAK:pMIKES MOB, DFW NERD 1071, DFW LHS 132!MIRACLES HAPPEN I'VE SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES. Hi all! How is everyone? Welcome to jwil and any other new Long haulers i have missed!
Went on our sun holiday in Cornwall last week (Mon - Fri). We managed to have a few nice days out thanks to Tesco Reward 'Day Out' vouchers. It was hard being on a fairly tight budget though, being on holiday is really one of thoes times that you just wanna not worry about it!
I am facing a bit of a dilema at the moment. My little boy turns 2 soon and he really needs to start going to some kind of nursery. He NEEDS it! And i know he would love it. He is such an active, intellegent little boy and he needs more than just being looking after by me, my hubby and my parents. He needs to be around other children now. Everyone keeps telling me this ........ but .......... i just don't see how we can afford it! Hubby works full time, i work 3 days a week and am not able to increase my hours. (me and hubby work opposite days to each other to avoid paying childcare)
I recently got a pay rise and am planning to pay the CCCS a bit more next month and am SO desperate to get ours debts paid off now, to put my little boy into a nursery would mean we have to lower our CCCS payment.
I just cant decide what to do for the best!I'm FINALLY debt free! DFW Long Hauler #227LBM - Jan 2006  March 2006 -£26,725  Apr 2015 - £0!!! :jBaby boy born 1/8/08 Baby girl born 28/6/120 -
