O/S Daily Thursday 15th March 2018

This is an !!!8220;over the garden fence!!!8221; type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It!!!8217;s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we!!!8217;re going to do today or what we!!!8217;ve achieved already. Everyone!!!8217;s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn!!!8217;t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don!!!8217;t post large pictures, or clip art !!!8211; links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don!!!8217;t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, dry underfoot but blustery.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit.

Dinner last night was pork steaks, mash and (LO mash), LO cauli/broc cheese, LO carrots, broc, peas and gravy, there was some vanilla/choc brioche bread left that DH and DS1 shared for dessert. Tonight I'm not sure what we'll be having but I'll organise this today.

I'll be heading to town first thing as I have a training session for an hour at work that was cancelled due to the snow a few weeks back, once I've done that I'll head to the bank and building society, then butchers, and then onto the laundrette, so I'll be packing as much into the big laundry bags as I can to get washed. Hopefully I won't be too long in there but it needs to be done as I'm not expecting it will get mended tomorrow more likely they'll need to order a spare part! If it is fixed then great, I'll have a working machine and already be up to date with the washing. I do actually like using the laundrette as the machine's are huge and you can get double the amount in them, so very often 2 big loads and it's done.

I rang dad last night to see if they wanted me to go to sit with mum today and I'm not needed, so will use today to catch up on all the stuff that hasn't been getting done here - which is loads - house is a complete pit, don't really know where to start! I'm sure I'll find something to keep me occupied. I had a dentist appointment yesterday so saw my new dentist, he was a young foreign chap but very nice and he had a very good "bedside manner", so hoping he stays at the practice as I was dreading my appointment yesterday knowing it was a different dentist, but he was actually not as rough as the previous one.

Yesterday work was busy again but I prefer busy to dead, I'm now on days' off until Monday once I've been in today for the training session.

Keep safe and well x

nmlc x

Just a small addition I put the dripping wet washing from the broken machine out on the line as I had no other means of getting it dry from that wet, (I tried to hand wring it out but there's only so much you can do) and when I got it in at 4.30pm it wasn't completely dry but nearly - so that was the first line drying day of the year.

Morning all and thank you for starting us off nmlc.

It is the last day of my working week though I might need go bring the laptop home if I can't complete my paperwork. Thank goodness it is Thursday because work has been pretty full on this week and I have got up tired, let alone getting through today. I don't know what has happened to my energy levels but it feels scary. Still, others have far worse worries.

It is raining and looks as though that will carry on for the entire day.

I have washing to hang but will need to hang it indoors.

Hope everyone has a good day, Holly you are in my thoughts.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Thanks for the start nmlc :T

I am just about to go to bed after watching Barefoot in the Park  My body clock is seriously out of whack :(

When I get up I will have a cup of tea then off to Post Office to send parcels/packet to DSis & DB. DH will be doing a Tip run & then tidying.

Plan for the rest of the day will be decluttering & cleaning & a spot of baking after a couple of hopefully quick phone calls :o

Hope everyone has a good day & hugs to Holly & anyone else who needs/would like one :)

    Good morning everyone.

Another windy and damp start here though it seems other areas have much worse.

Yesterday I managed to clear all my paperwork, scanned it and burnt it. That felt good.

Today I’m meeting a friend for lunch and then going to sit and read. I’m not going down to Glasgow this weekend, it’ll be good to have a wee break

I’m still in bed, happy times!

Now I hope everyone is well or getting better, happy Thursday.

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Wet and windy in Paradise this morning bah!

Just been catching up on yesterday's posts and the message from dear HOLLY brought tears to my eyes. The poor love I can't begin to imagine how she is feeling. NELS it was so good of you to arrange the card if it makes her feel less alone through this.

Mr TA felt slightly better yesterday and said he felt up to the theatre trip. Even though he didn't look it. We went for our meal first and I enjoyed mine but he struggled with his and had to leave some of it. Onwards to the Alhambra and just time for another vino in the bar first. I wouldn't say I was disappointed with the show but I was expecting more. Anton and Erin were in sparkling form but too much input from the back-up dancers, orchestra and singer spoiled it a bit for me.

We are gallivanting again today! My DB and SIL are picking us up late morning for a drive and late lunch. Though the rain might curtail the drive a bit! Mr TA was feeling a bit better by the time we got home last night so I am hoping he will feel more up to eating today.

We have the 3 DGDs here tonight after swimming for sleepover and tomorrow's school run. Being Thursday it's the customary Pasta Bake and the Bolognese is simmering away as I speak. I'll have it all ready to throw in the oven ready for their arrival "starving" but if we have a big lunch I doubt we will want much of it.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them. Thinking of HOLLY. DUMPLING how are you? NAN grr on your behalf I too hate ineptness. I have been trying to speak to someone in Urology at St James all week and keep leaving messages for these invisible people who are" not at their desks right now so please leave a message and I will get to you" and they never do. Take care all xxx

    Morning Everyone,

Raining here. The good news this week is that hopefully in a few weeks time I should be able to start paying my moms bills - I have been granted deputyship (along with my daughter- I asked her if I could put her on in I am ill or I should have the unfortunate pleasure of 'popping off' before my mother.
After work today I will come home and potter doing more jobs. I am getting rid of items that I do not want to make room for things from moms.

Time to get moving. Must also strip the bed today xx

Morning everyone and thanks for the start nmlc, hope you get your machine fixed quickly.

Another one here who managed to get a lot of washing line dried yesterday, don’t think I will be so lucky today as dull and mizzly with rain.
It’s the usual food shop this morning and then my beloved is taking me out to lunch for a treat so no cooking for me today :j lovely.
My girlie was perfect for the farrier yesterday and made me realise how far we have come as a partnership in the last 7 months, they say it can take up to a year for a mare to bond with her owner but think we are pretty much there, she’s a diamond for sure and am so glad that I made the decision to have another horse after losing dear old Bill.
Thank you for passing on Holly’s message Nelski, bless her heart x
Please take care AOD worth a docs check up re the energy levels?

Have a good day folks x

    Morning all,

Awake all night tossing and turning, mainly coughing but not sleeping in between bouts of coughing.

Grump phoned me last night to tell me he'd been offered 3 years work in a different part of Wales. Its a 3 hour drive from home but he would be staying in digs. He just needs to sort out the expenses before he says yes. Fingers crossed.

Its The Blonde Ones birthday today. This time 32 years ago i was getting the two kids ready to stay with my Mum whilst i was going into hospital to have her....They told me i was having a big baby but i just laughed cause i only had 6lb babies.... Delivering her wiped that smile off my face! She was 8 and half pound!

    Memories eh?

    TA enjoy your galavanting! :D

    Holly am thinking of you.

    Onwards and forwards,

    Have a great day all.

  • Morning (((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one, Holly needs all the hugs she can get just now, I really hope she can find a way forward.

Towels dry by lunch time, gave then a couple of minutes in the dryer to soften them, folded and put away.

OH got his eye measured for his lens, op scheduled for next month.

We have heavy rain this morning, it does not look like letting up anytime soon.

Chap coming to collect the microwave, the display is not working correctly, I have to wait for a phone call. Its still under warranty, I will miss it, I use it a lot.

The nurse is also coming to take blood, when we went to the surgery last week, the nurse refused to take it as they have to use a butterfly.

No real plans for the day, I put the dyson over the carpets yesterday, the forecast is dire for the weekend, so will clean the grate out and fill the coal bucket, we will light the sitting room fire in the afternoons at the weekend. I am running out of fire lighters, our usual shop had run out.

Supper tonight stew and dumplings, will cook the stew in the pressure cooker, have a leek to use up so will put that in with the carrots and onion. Fresh fruit for dessert.
  • Morning all,

Firstly, catching up on yesterdays thread, thank you Nelski for the update and for sending the card. I too bloody love this thread.

Yesterday, as usual for a Wednesday, after work I played football. Read a bit of my book and doozed off.

Today, been to the gym this morning and I plan on staying a bit later in work, just to tie up some administrative stuff. Also nipped into Asda this morning for 1 or 2 things, so hamburgers tonight with chilli halloumi cheese and steamed veg.

TA - Glad you both managed yesterday evening.
Judi - Hope DD has a brill day and fingers crossed for the OH
