normally just prepare like any other paint job. sugar soap then rub down with sandpaper. you dont really need a primer with hammerite.
if its good enough for my land rover chassis, its ok for a domestic rad!
Having advised not to paint radiators with emulsion i'm actually now considering doing it myself as I've come across a product made by International called Radiator ClearCoat
"Simply paint the radiator with the emulsion colour of your choice, then overcoat with Radiator Clearcoat in either Gloss or Satin"
Has anyone tried using clearcoat? And if so how did you get on?
The radiator i'm thinking of using it on is already painted white. I plan to spot paint any chips with primer then paint with a coat of Dulux Undercoat (oil-based) before a coat of emulsion (same colour as walls so the radiator blends into the background) then finish with a coat of ClearCoat.
