Contracts don't just come to an end, you may come to the end of a minimum term (12 months ?) but you then continue on standard terms and conditions, if part of the original 'contract' was some sort of discount or inducement, you could find that the end of the minimum term coincides with a price increase, so for examples say someone signed up with a provider , initially for £15 per month on a 'half price for 12 months, 12 month minimum term' deal, then obviously month 13 would see the price increase to £30, the onus would be on the consumer to do something if the £30 is unacceptable ( even though they agreed to the deal) , by either trying to negotiate a better deal (probably in return for a new minimum term) or move provider (which would probably also require minimum term with that new company)
It's not very clear what the problem is, if a 12 month minimum term started on 18/3/17 then the minimum term ( not the contract ) expires around 17/3/18, but as you normally pay line rental etc in advance , then a full price bill would likely be issued for 18/3/18 to 17/4/18 and if you leave within that billing period they should refund pro rata any days you were not a customer...that's all pretty standard stuff0 -
Thank you for reply - my new contract started on 18 March 2017, I paid by credit card up front line rental in February 2017. However after negotiation with provider in February 2017 I was issued with new contract starting 18 March 2017.
Provider asked in email in 2018 for payment of X£ would be taking from my bank in March which was £10 overcharging to what was on my bill on their website payment. However both are incorrect due to line rental in accordance with new contact issue in March 2017 and should not be included in my bill for March 2018, if line rental has been taken in advance. They seem to refuse to acknowledge the new contract they provided me with in March 2017.
I cancel the DD as they said it was the easiest way to resolve the £10 over payment what they asked for in email, I have not given them back my bank details as yet until they resolve the line rental issue ie new contract issues on 18th March 2017.
Each time I ring, I keep getting conflicting information from customer services, which is very confusing indeed.0
