I think (hope!) the friends bonus is only available if you actually switch current accounts - which we're not doing. Got 5 current & savings accounts with the Co op and staying put :rotfl: This is just an extra one for savings...
Not even looking now if I could have got the bonus cos I'll be annoyed if I've missed it :rotfl:0 -

Just wondering out loud Cheery, when you open new accounts, how do you keep track of all the user id and password type information? I ask because that is one thing that puts me off moving accounts.:( We aren't supposed to write it all down anywhere, but really, how can you possibly keep track otherwise? I already got into trouble with the p0st 0ffice for not being able to exactly reproduce my signature too :eek:0

Sadly I don't have any special system ElmoR. I have several accounts with one bank so they don't need separate passwords. I've already had to ring the post office as I couldn't even find the account number - and then on the phone I got one of my security questions wrong
:rotfl: I'm sure there are fancy pants password managers out there but I don't use them
I suppose part of me relies on the house being in such chaos that if anyone ever broke in they'd never be able to figure out what paperwork went with what account :rotfl:

Don't worry about writing passwords down. Create a strong password using something like this: http://correcthorsebatterystaple.net/ so that hacking your account is difficult.
You used to be told not to write passwords down because someone might steal your computer and your password, but that's very unlikely now. THey're more likely to try to hack you.
If you use a device with touchID, you don't have to remember your password after the first time. And if you forget it, reset using the password generator above.
To check whether accounts have been compromised (another big breach of 773 million accounts has recently been discovered) check at https://haveibeenpwned.com/
And change your passwords regularly anyway...0 -
Thanks greenbee, good advice there! :j
Long day here. Had a nice evening at a friend's house last night which was lovely but back very late and then back into the city for a funeral today
Did have to top up the tank, and didn't have it in me to drive across town to the cheaper petrol station (and didn't want to stop off when giving people a lift home from the funeral) so ended up at the more expensive place on the edge of town - worked out it was only £1 extra though so in the circumstances not too bad.
Not much else to report. 4 eggs today. Had snow over the weekend but nothing disruptive, although we're due a more disruptive dumping over night tonight apparently...
Nothing toget out for tomorrow though except a smear test at 5pm though and I'm sure I'll cope if that gets postponed...
Paperwork seems to have arrived for the new NW account (at least I assume that's what it is, not opened yet). Need to sit down and transfer things between accounts, open the TSB one and the regular savers and start setting up standing orders etc.
But not tonight, sitting quietly and finishing my knitting tonight...0 -
Heard on the travel news that the "usual suspect" roads round you were closed this morning so sounds like you did get some more overnight - hopefully not too bad!
And in those circumstances £1 more on fuel seems like a sensible trade-off - remember also there would have been cost involved in going to the other petrol station if it was further away too so probably not even that much, in real terms.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Light dusting overnight - but it's still snowing now and meant to be piling up throughout the day so we'll see. Don't need to be anywhere other than the docs today (and that's easy to reschedule) but I'd rather not reschedule the MOT again tomorrow!
Opened the post - it's not the paperwork for the bank account (most of which has arrived by email anyway now although we're still waiting on cards and pins, which we're not going to use anyway). It's actually paperwork for the house insurance, due middle of Feb.
We've had budget insurance for years after I got hold of Mr Cheery's finances a decade ago and discovered he was paying £800 a year having stayed with the same insurer for years
But when we moved, it ran out a couple of weeks before we moved house, and they wouldn't give us an add on, and their new policy wouldn't cover the new house between exchange and completion
I ended up going with M&S as true to form, they did not quibble about any such thing, and also didn't ask a million questions about location of trees etc (which at that point we couldn't measure) which the cheaper people wanted to know.
Anyway, letter says policy has gone up from £298 last year to £329 this year. Hmm. Might have to do a bit of shopping round, much as I hate that... although having said that we do have several trees near the house which would rule us out of some of the very cheap ones anyway.
Hey ho, got til the middle of Feb to gear myself up for that.
Slow start today, bit of a disturbed sleep for one reason and another and struggling to get going0
