Triangular shelves sound like they ought to work pretty well for bottles…not sure if that will be the case though!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Good point! They've got curved doors so don't need to be anything particularly pretty.
Still trying to retrieve stuff from being scattered all over the house. So far we've found one fork, and one teaspoon. Where is all the cutlery?? 😂😂5 -
Jellytotts said:I hate (with a huge passion) fitted kitchens so we don't have one. We made our own units (on wheels) and bought a second hand wardrobe (that we put on wheels....we love wheels) that we shelved out that had become our pantry cupboard. I saw a lovely one in JL for £2k but this one cost us £90 including delivery and £8 for a pack of floor tiles that I've lined the shelves with.
We used pine for everything, including the worktops and cut, sanded, stained and oiled each piece (sounds idyllic but it wasn't). A big old pine dresser holds the "occasion" China and glasses and gives us drawer space and everything just slides out so I can Hoover behind it...magic! (Well aside from the cooker and sink but the cooker is on legs so I can still Hoover and mop under it.
I've got all my food in the pantry, all in second hand baskets and I know where everything is, it's all there, I can lay my hands on it in seconds. It's a dream to cook in and we even made a matching wheeled unit that holds the recycling bins and doubles as an island when I need extra work top space.
I will never go back to a fitted kitchen.....ours cost just over £2k including appliances and each piece can be replaced if it breaks/wears out/gets attacked by rabid squirrels.
I sometimes think modern kitchens are all about the showy outside rather than the practical inside bits.Saying that, I do still love looking at other peoples kitchens on Instagram and seeing how they transform a space.Cheery_Daff said:Jellytotts, your kitchen sounds ace! Love the idea of everything being on wheels. Sadly given how sloping we've discovered our floor is, I fear we'd be constantly trying to shove stuff back up the hill to the other side of the kitchen if we did that 😊😊

I have a large sewing box on wheels that I tried to position on the landing today. Went downstairs and when I returned it had taken itself for a little trip along the corridor 😂

We do have lockable casters on everything just to make sure it doesn’t move as you lean on things. I didn’t think we needed them but DH (in his infinite wisdom) said yes we do….and we did.6

I didn't even know lockable casters were a thing! Sounds like you need some Fortune! 😂5

Ooh, we've been on a foraging (well, buying) trip for the new kitchen 😁
Couple of tester pots... I'm not entirely convinced about the yellow... 🙄 I love the colour on its own but not convinced it goes with the granite/oak combination. We've come out with testers of bumble bee (yes, more yellow than the 'retro yellow' we already have), English sage (which we had in our old kitchen but which Mr Cheery thinks will be too dreary for this one) and 'elf' which is as ridiculous as it sounds. Clearly we can't do compromise, and will probably just be sticking with the original colour... 🙄
Also got some little shelf separator things for the fridge, and a collapsible washing up bowl 🙄 Personally I prefer to use a bowl, but Mr Cheery hates them, and will keep moving it somewhere else every time I leave it in the kitchen. We'll be able to store this one under the sink!
Should probably go home and stop pending money now.8 -

If/when we design and build a kitchen something we both agree on is the cupboard under the sink will have a space for the washing up bowl, washing up liquid, dishwasher detergent, rinse aid etc, so the side is uncluttered, a girl can dream 🤣Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

We have no choice but to have a bowl here as our sink is a metal industrial style one and would take about a stupid amount of water if we washed up without a bowl! 😂 I loved the excitement of getting to choose stuff specifically for a new kitchen! Also, I was reminded again today of how “just right” we got our kitchen. I was coming home as the light had begun to fade, and as ai walked past the kitchen window I took a few steps back again just so I could look in (The light was on as MrEH was in there making the Christmas cake) and admire how lovely it is! (And yes, it is super-shiny and glossy but above all and FAR more important than that, it’s also super functional and an utter joy to use!) 😊
Dishwasher stuff and laundry liquid etc lives under the sink here by the way B_B - the washing up liquid is out in the top because it would just drive me mad having to open the cupboard door to get it every time though! 😁🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
