Running club was cheerful 😊 Glad I went out. Stayed at the back with a pal who had covid a few weeks back and is still struggling with her breathing, and a nice woman from the running club.
Mr Cheery made tea, and then we've put up another ceiling panel - the most complicated one as it has wires through for the light and the smoke alarm. I've done most of them on my own, but couldn't do this one because I couldn't thread the wires through until the glue was already on, and I don't have enough upper body strength, or enough hands, to do both at the same time.
Anyway, look 😁😂😂😂
Bit dingy as we don't have any electricity or lights in there right now, just a table lamp on an extension. Propped in place while the glue dries 😂 This has been a surprisingly effective method so far, and I will cheerfully recommend the Screwfix generic version of No More Nails to anyone for gluing anything to anything else 😁
Only another 9 to get up (and then about 15 of them need the edges sealing and a couple of coats of paint, but that's the easy bit - I'll do that all in one go at the end).9 -
That looks great - well done! And now that complicated one is done the rest will feel like a breeze I bet - comparatively so at least!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Indeed!
Gosh, I HAVE been distracted over the last few days - I completely forgot to look out for Agent Million, and to check the list of large premium bonds prize winners yesterday! 😮
Turns out I've not missed much - we won £25 again 😁 I suspect our days of winning £75 several months in a row are over, and as we rapidly deplete the account to pay for the kitchen, our days of winning every single month are likely over too... 🙄 Hey ho, we've certainly had a good run - won something every month in the last 8 draws since we were eligible 😁5 -
It took me a while to check too! Nothing for me though, but I have a lot less in there than you.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

And as I suspect I have less still, it was entirely unsurprising to me to get nothing at all! Well done on yours though Cheery - as I think you know it was your success that lead to us deciding to take that turn! (And I checked yesterday morning, so na-na nah na-nahhhh to you al!
)

I hope they don't end up being a complete waste of time! 😮 Next time remind us! (To be fair it's usually me droning on about Agent Million... 😂)
Got stuck behind some tanker thing on the lane out of the house today. Getting quite sick of all this work now. Mr Cheery is fed up of having to wait for them to move, and I'm fed up of feeling like I have to ask permission to get in and out of my own house 🙄 This morning the tanker driver was quite shirty and clearly didn't want to move, especially as I think he's just had to move for the electrician, but that's not my fault - I've asked repeatedly for them to give us notice of when they're blocking the road, and they have my phone number.
They did say today that they'll be tarmacking tomorrow, so it'll be shut for a few hours. Were they actually going to bother telling me if I hadn't happened to see them?? Last time we got 10 minutes notice of them saying it would be shut for the whole day, and the electrician got trapped in too. Going to have to leave the car on the other side tonight so I can get out for the dentis. No big deal, although it is a half mile walk in the dark and the lane is currently full of mud and holes, but I shall still be glad when they go away.
They're back again after Christmas and will be here a few months repairing a different bit of the track- but at least they won't be working on the bit we have to drive over, we just might have to occasionally wait for a digger to go past the end of the drive. And hopefully we won't still have builders in then so we'll feel a bit less trapped!11 -
Evening MSE chums 😊
A day of wildly fluctuating emotions today. Rusty chicken isn't showing the improvement we'd like, and we're starting to come to terms with the fact that Friday's vets trip might be one way 😕 We'll keep going with the antibiotics for the next couple of days though and we'll see.
In more cheerful news, we now have lights in the kitchen and dining room! And plug sockets both upstairs and down! The lights make a huge difference, and it's starting to feel like an actual room in there now. Combined with the heating, I'm finally starting to see how it will feel homely one day 😊
Today's spending:
£9.25 cafe 🙄
£12.73 supermarket
£45 counselling
= £66.98
Driving:
Cafe = 10 miles
Mr Cheery trip put this afternoon = 35 miles ish
Counselling = 14 miles
Total = 59 miles10 -
