Glad you're all enjoying my ridiculous live hat 😂😂
Nowt much else to report. I have a LOT of work to do today ready for an all day video meeting tomorrow 🙄 This would have been a long and slightly stressful all day meeting in person, but online I imagine it will be rather exhausting...
And today will be no better - I'd underestimated just how long each individual thing was going to take me to do, and have only got done 3 out of the 16 (equally sized) items so far 😮😮 There's going to have to be a bit of strategic prioritisation today... 🙄
I'm starting in my dressing gown with a cup of tea - which means that once I've done the first couple of things I get a nice break to have a shower and some breakfast 😂 Makes it feel more possible starting before 8am 😂
Of course I could have started earlier... especially as I've not even got dressed! Didn't sleep well last night, worrying about unnecessary stuff, and the chickens were still squabbling this morning (being shut in together for 6 hours yesterday seemingly didn't help them sort out their differences... 🙄)
Anyway, onwards....9 -
Oh, and as a 'treat' later I'm going to sort out the banks, which I've not done yet this month...
One thing I do need to do - order a new pin number for my bank card. I literally cannot remember it 😮😂 Just used contactless for so long that when I finally went to the cash machine... put in what I thought it was, and nope. Tried various alternatives, nope nope nope 😮 Had to stop before it ate my card... It still works for contactless but obviously I'm going to need cash or something expensive at some point soon! I just keep forgetting to order it. Will do that today.
We've heard that our strike deductions will be take starting in August. They've been good to delay them while lockdown has been happening but they were always going to take them eventually of course and at least they're spreading them out over four months. I *think* (although must check) each monthly amount will work out less than the amount we get from Mr Cheery's pension (which we didn't have til a few months ago anyway) so shouldn't be too bad.
Also need to check and possibly rejoin a professional Association.
Aarrgghh, lots of things all popping into my head now that are NOT the urgent and important work tasks I need to get on with! If you see me in here in the next hour give me a stern look and tell me to get on with it!8 -
Make a side list as they come into your head Cheery - it gets them out of your head and ready to deal with *when* the other stuff is done.
Good luck with the prep and the meeting - all day sounds utterly exhausting, you have my sympathy!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Plus one for the "side list" and the good luck for the prep and meeting. You can do it, Cheery!
2023: the year I get to buy a car8 -
<delurking to say> Plus another for the 'side list'. I have a pad next to where I work (which is all over the place in the house a the moment) and just write stuff on it and IGNORE it for the rest of the day, that's the hardest part!
I've got side-tracked by my side list before and ended up achieving nothing all day (oops!). <relurking>
just in case you need to know:
HWTHMBO - He Who Thinks He Must Be Obeyed
DS#1 - my twenty-year-old son
DS#2 - my teenaged son
Barkin Things - my two rescued/retired greyhounds4 -
Cheery - I second/third/fourth the side-list!
I've always got Notes running on the side with a sticky notes list going for the day where I jot down random thoughts. It's synced with my work computer, personal computer, work phone & personal phone so that I can add to it whenever a 'squirrel' moment happens. Then it gets reviewed once in the evening for personal to-do's and once in the morning for work to-do's - anything that takes 5 minutes or less gets done then (up to 1/2 hour total), or blocked into the calendar if it requires a time commitment!
Without these side list's I'd be completely lost as it is soooooooooooooo easy to get side-tracked from what really needs my attention! Look at you lot all being super wise!! 😂 I am extremely impressed 😁😁
I did indeed manage to remain focused today (for once) and got a good lot of stuff achieved. Quite exhausted now mind you. It has been a very long week for many reasons, not least a 12 hour working day on Tuesday plus almost 11 hours today, and a 7 hour video conference yesterday (and not one I could sleep through either). Yawnarama.
Then tonight I ended up finishing work at 7.30, then after a cheery chat with a pal I landed up supervising some very pesky chicken shenanigans at bedtime, and them accompanying Mr Cheery to the supermarket and realised when I got home at 10 that I'd not had any tea 😮 Urgh.
Hey ho. I'm having tomorrow off, and Mr Cheery's sister is coming to visit in the afternoon. I do hope the weather picks up. We've rigged up some outdoor shelter and wind protection but it's not exactly cosy 🙄
Might see if I can get out on the trail first thing for a bike ride, blow the cobwebs away...
Also, remind me I need to ring and pay the vets (AGAIN) - tried to ring 11 times today and they were engaged every time!
I did remember to order my PIN number though 😂 although my card was declined when I tried to pay contactless yesterday so maybe it's been blocked anyway... hope not, how very tiresome...7 -
Cheery - re the Pin # - OH was told that the first time after it is reset you need to use chip and pin before contactless will work again - the bank inferred he should of known this - a whole lot of swearing followed...

Interesting RT, thank you! Mine stopped working before I got round to asking for a new PIN though... daren't try it again in case the block the whole thing and I hav to wait for a whole new card (which I suppose they may have already done... should have rung rather than sending an online message!)6
