3 Month Old Sofology Sofa Sagging Badly

If you bought your couch with a credit card, you're covered by section 75 of the Consumer Protection Law:
"If the retailer isn't playing ball it may be easier to go to your card provider
If you're struggling to get a retailer to listen to the fact you have consumer rights, then in some circumstances, assuming you're eligible, claiming from the credit card company under Section 75 can prove easier. There are a number of reasons for this:
Credit card companies have deeper pockets.
If you're claiming something substantial from a small firm, it may fight tooth and nail and force you to go to court to get redress, as it can't afford to pay out so will make it difficult for you to get your money back. Yet credit card companies are huge beasts, and have deeper pockets so this is less of an issue.
If the credit card firm turns you down, you can go to the Ombudsman, not court.
This is an important difference. First the Financial Ombudsman Service is free, while even in the small claims court you pay a fee, which is only returned if you win.
More importantly, the court only looks at the law, while the Ombudsman looks at:
The law, or
Standard industry practice, or
Whether you've been treated fairly and reasonably
The last one especially gives you extra hope if your case falls foul of the letter of the law, but your treatment hasn't been right."

There's a really good store near me - you can't miss it as it's right next to the shop selling Spam.0 -
I visited Glicks furniture , it wasn't a money saving experience.
What a rip off, the fare to Australia negated any savings on the imported Chinese sofa:)0 -
Just a little reminder for anyone still having trouble, if you get no joy from the retailer you can always arrange your own professional inspection and report. That will assist you if the retailer refuses a return or fights you over the section 75 claim.
And for the record, imported Chinese made chesterfield sofas are THE most uncomfortable furniture ever made, with the possible acceptance of the replica movie prop version of the iron throne.Well informed on the subjects of sofas and wood furniture, and well opinionated on everything else :rotfl:0 -
Update: After my emails back to Sofology being ignored I finally got to speak to someone yesterday. I explained that their Customer Charter and Terms states that I actually have a 10 year guarantee and regarding the £69 charge for a Service Manager to visit and look at my sofa they have agreed to do this free of charge. It does help to preservere even if it takes a long time.
Good luck to everyone else on this forum and thanks to those that offered advice.0 -
Does anyone have any updates regarding the Linara sofa sagging? I have just complained about mine today and got fobbed off with the usual response about dressing the leather. I have been told I will get a call within 24 hours. Just wondering how everyone else got on? Thanks0

Having recently purchased a couple of Sofas from Sofology I can only concur with so many on here. Rubbish product, poor foam, fabrics stretching after only weeks and non existent customer service. They are now refusing to even return my calls or emails.
So, what to do? First, I will report them to trading standard, for those who don’t know, goods should be free of defects and fit for the purpose they were designed and intended. Clearly their products do not comply with this. Next, I will demand my credit card credit the total amount, as the goods are faulty and Sofology refuse to take any action to rectify. Thirdly.....the sofa will be put outside in the road for Sofology to collect.
I will never purchase any items from Sofology again, they are appalling at best, and will make sure that everyone in my company, all 65,000 of them get to see my review of this rubbish company on our own intranet.0 -
We’ve got the same problem with the Linara and only had ours a week! I’m gutted because we made ourselves totally skint to pay the £3,400 for a 3, 4 and footstool. There is no way of plumping it as it’s totally stitched down?!0

Would anyone consider contacting BBC’s Watchdog about this company. The new series is about to start.0

I had similar issue and same rubbish advice from sofology so I went to furniture ombudsman and within three weeks they collected my sofa and refunded my money in full and delivery charges. I also insisted on an independent assessor to look at furniture first who agreed it was a manufacturing fault which they had denied hope this helps0
