We, now, have an electric lawn rake - which rips heaps of moss out of the lawn - it has made a huge difference to the state of the lawn - we use evergreen granules - leave it a week until the moss all turns black - then a quick go over with the lawn rake !

Moss is green and soft and is a lovely surface to sit on under the shade of my apple trees when it gets really hot, so I don't bother!
Same here.....we have a big patch under tree in corner and our granddaughter loves to play on it in summer

I quite like the mossy patches, it's nice to walk on and you can guarantee it's going to be green in the winter [thanks rain].
I think it also depends on what you want to lawn to look like and whether it compliments your house. Having a beautifully kept lawn is a lot of time and energy and money to look after well. Time of mine is much better spent gorwing things I'll eat, or pretty things. In fact, I'd be much happier with no grass at all.
Trying to keep a lawn going is basically keeping something a baby that wants to be a grown up. It's a lot of effort.

You aren't wrong; we're experimenting with creeping thyme and creeping jenny as lawn alternatives this year.
