When will we get our deposit back

Our Tenancy ended and we handed our keys back on 23rd Feb. We have since heard nothing about our deposit and an email has gone unanswered.

I have emailed the agent asking when I will hear about getting it back but they have not replied. Do I need to find out from the agent if there are any deductions before contacting TDS?

I would start by picking up the phone and saying "we sent you an e-mail on XXXX date but haven't received a reply. We're just chasing up the status of the deposit". If they're still unresponsive, write them a formal letter (not e-mail).

If you still receive no response then contact TDS and start the process with them. I wouldn't be contacting the agent to ask if there are any deductions (do not to this in either the phone call or letter I suggest either - just stay silent on the matter i.e. "where is our deposit". End!). They have not notified you that there are any deductions, so proceed on that basis that there isn't.

    10 working days.
You moved out on a Friday.
So you should have been informed by the LA or LL of any deductions by this Friday.
The longer it drags on the worse it will look for the LL if it goes to the TDS

Actually wrong, the landlord has to return the money within 60 days.

Uhm no. There is no standard legal requirement.

The contract usually indicates the time it will take, but ultimately it can take much much longer.

It depends if there is a dispute.. Hence why I deleted.. Its 10 days after both parties agree the amount to be returned. I thought it was otherwise 60 days but may be wrong.

Contact TDS, I have only used the DPS, that one sends you the tenant login infomation so you can login and ask that the money be returned, this will be flagged up to the landlord. If they do not respond within the 10 days contact TDS to ask how to proceed.

why have you not yet found out how to get your deposit back by contacting the scheme that is intended to help you with your deposit, otherwise why have a tenant deposit protection scheme?

They don't have to start the process. They don't care about you getting your money back. Contact TDS and get started, can all be done online.
