Even though I'm the budget one of the house, I'm not allowed to do food shop. Secretly I'm delighted!

Oh, regularly not having to do the food shop sounds like a dream! We did use to do it jointly the years leading up to LO being born but I took control back when I was on maternity leave just to get us out of the house on those long ML days. Although as long as some days were they don't feel long enough now I'm back to work!

Had a lovely birthday, we went to D@mons where mine and the tiny dude's meals were free - only paid for starters and DH's main. And I got free cake and icecream! Was easily the nicest meal we've had out with LO, he's not a fan of restaurants and we typically avoid them for that reason. But he ate all his food, blew kisses at other diners and "helped" the waiter clean up the table. He's honestly got so big these last few days.

Passes for the park have already been used twice, we swang by on our way home yesterday and LO had 2 hours running free. He was so tired when we got home that DH didn't even finish one Thomas story before he was fast asleep - he normally has 2 or 3 :o I'm so glad we decided to take the plunge and get the passes. We saved £60 too as they have an anniversary offer on this year.

Also spent £42.88 of my birthday money to fill a couple patches in my wardrobe (leggings, a basic white top, new cotton dress for summer) I'm going to look at some of my pre-baby clothes, see if I can take the seams out a little and make them wearable. I have some gorgeous sea$alt/L-A dresses but even though I'm only a few lb heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight, I seem to carry fat differently now, so things don't quite fit how they used to! Will be a big help to save some ££ once the warmer weather comes back if I can :) I could also try to just lose some weight but I'm entirely not about that life.

DH's wages get paid into the bank on Thursday so we'll have a proper sit down and look at our figures then.

    Morning!

Ordered LO a MM art box this morning as it was free through our mobile rewards app. We've also got another 2 codes for free movie rentals so that's our weekend evenings sorted once LO is in bed. We rented Daddy's Home 2 and Murder on the Orient Express this last weekend. Latter wasn't my pick, I can't enjoy Johnny Depp films anymore but knowing his character and the book I decided to shut my mouth and leave DH to pick in peace :o

Also cut up the remainder of my birthday cake to put in the freezer, as well as bringing a decent chunk to work. A £14.99 Co$tco sheet cake sounds like dream, tastes like a dream, but there is just so much of it.

Have my Sister over for tea tonight so it's a simple tea for us, quorn spaghetti bolognese. My stomach is already ready for it. LO and I had gouda and garlic monkey bread with tomato soup for our tea last night, so I'm half living on the memory of that. My life is honestly just made up of food; food I've just eaten and food I'm going to eat.

Have the day off work tomorrow to take the LO to a birthday party for a park near us. Hoping the weather holds fine, I'm not bothered about it being sunny or anything as "not raining" is good weather in my books these days. LO and I can wrap up, pack a picnic and hopefully have a good and cheap day.

Budgets and money shuffles in the morning :T

ETA: After struggling with getting in touch with the K company that made our pressure washer to get a repair booked in, we called Arg0s and DH is taking it back to the store on his dinner break for a full exchange. He also contacted another company to complain about a gift we bought someone in February so we're getting a £15 (1/3rd of the cost) refund there :T

Another mini update as DH got the pressure washer exchanged, and blagged a £50 refund :money:

However, DH has needed a new pair of shoes for a while. I've actually been taking a spare pair of socks for him in LO's bag because his feet never make it back to the car dry (a mystery) so we decided as it's unexpected money to use it to buy the shoes he's been hankering after for the last few months. Be nice to have one less thing to remember to take out with us anyways!

Sounds like some good little bits all making the difference! New shoes sound like a good idea, as do the annual passes!

Hope you had a lovely birthday!

Thanks Tink and Beanie! It's just so slow going through the month with updates, our big leaps are obviously with our monthly payday and then it just kind of trickles through with our weekly wage. Hope you're well :)

Speaking of, DH's work are changing his payday to the 25th as of this month. We'd obviously worked all our DD's around the 1st so we'll need to see how many of these we can alter. Bonus is we'll feel like we get 2 paydays this month, I suppose!

Broke past the 7k bracket, £362.55 to go :j We also have DH's insurance to save for (around £350) so I need to factor this in to manage our expectations a little! However, I still have one £250 payment to make into my savings which will come out on the 1st of May - so it's technically only £112.50 to save for the loan. We are so nearly almost there, I honestly didn't think we'd get this close to making this little goal of ours happen.

Mortgage interest was £329.02 last month :o That's £10.61 a day! I'm going to be so pleased when our debt has gone and we can start applying this to the mortgage.

Hope everyone had a lovely long weekend. We were like caged animals with the terrible weather, managed to get LO out for a few walks and an easter egg hunt but lack of outdoors mixed with a little too much chocolate meant it's been a chaotic few days!
  • Why change the Dd dates?

The money you get on the 25th April is to pay May's bills.
    25th May for June etc.

If you have a current account that pays interest,
You could gain a few days worth of interest from the money just sitting there.
