National Lottery - Delays in paying out?

I have experienced on several occasions the 'excuse' from corner shops (outlets for the National Lottery) that the 'network is down' whenever I try to collect any winnings . It can be irritatingly 'down' for several days no matter which corner shop I go to and I'm starting to think there is an ulterior motive (yes , another conspiracy theory). Is Camelot purposely hanging onto £millions for a few extra days to maximise interest on the money stuck in their bank accounts? Strange thing is that the network is never down when your 'paying in' for a new ticket. Wish someone would look into this a bit deeper and check whether there is indeed a worrying trend.

There is a very simple test of your conspiracy theory you can do. Next time you can't collect winnings as network is down just attempt to buy a ticket.0 -
Perhaps the corner shops are running out of cash. Try a large supermarket chain instead.0

Never had this problem.
Anything over £500 gets claimed via National Lottery Head Quarters.
If you visited more then one outlet then the server will be down at all.
I dont think its a conspiracy theory, just the systems were down.
Try again another time.

The shop would be happy to pay you, they get a commission for doing so.0

Can you not get Lottery winnings paid directly into your bank account in this day and age? Collecting winnings from the corner shop belongs in the same era as collecting your State Pension from the Post Office in cash.0

Finally got paid 3 days later using a Tescos outlet . Not without a bit of hassle too. Apparently ,when the network came up , I went to the nearest corner shop who tried to cash in my ticket via their machines , but then said they could only pay out a max of £50 (ie. I'd won £60) . So they gave me back my ticket but somehow it sort of registered that I had been paid . So when I went to Tesco, the lady said 'you have been previously paid' . So after a bit of a debate she somehow double-checked and agreed to pay me. Wonderful!!!!0

Play online via the website or mobile app and avoid all these issues!!0

Or just save and don't play at all.0

You play football or chess or Call of Duty, you gamble on the Lottery. Handing someone £2 and then sitting on the sofa while someone else spins a wheel is not "play".0
