David Wilson Homes Snagging

Hi,

This information may also apply to Barratt Homes who own the David Wilson Homes brand.

before legal completion of your David Wilson Home request copies of the quality inspections that were performed on your new house post-build, these are the inspections that DWH carries out to identify any snagging issues that need to be remedied pre legal completion, however in our case, and, I suspect with many of their new homes, isn't completed, either in part or as in our case, in full.

inspections to request are
Site Managers Final Inspection QC 5.1
Contracts Manager's Final Inspection 5.3A

If you've already moved into your David Wilson house and want to check if they addressed all identified snags, then I would also request a copy of the Director's Sign Off, along with the two QC inspections.

We've had 147 (and counting) snags so far, with over 100 having been reported in their own inspection documents.

If DWH refuse to give you copies then you should be concerned, however you can still get copies by issues them with a Subject Access Request for your Plot number, full address and your names

Comments

  • This is helpful, thank you for sharing. I've heard horror stories about snagging and aftercare so good to know what to ask for when the time comes!
  • I wish I had seen your post a few months ago - I cannot recommend getting a snagging report on your David Wilson Home enough - their work is appalling and that's just what you can see. I had a professional report done when I moved it and had nearly 400 snags - the problems are still on-going and a constant nightmare.

If you are thinking of buying a David Wilson Home - don't do it! Save your sanity and your money. If you have already purchased one - god help you! But a snagging report will be the best money you will spend throughout the whole process.

  • We're near 'completion' in the purchasing of a DWH home and found your comment useful. I've requested the information you suggested and will wait and see what happens. Our daughter has also purchased one of their homes and she still waits for some snagging issues to be addressed. That is definitely a wait and see. She's been in the property about 6 months and has heard a number of excuses why things couldn't be done. Thanks for the info.
  • Thanks for this information. Does anybody know where to go next if DW refuse and also refuse the subject access request saying the infomation was prior to legal completion so you are not entitled to it? We have major issues with our house so this response was not unexpected! Thanks
