Hi,

We recently flew Frankfurt to Rio with Lufthansa and then Rio to Iguaza with LATAM, the whole booking was under one reference number. The flight to Rio was delayed by 11 hours so we missed the connecting flight and arrived at Iguaza 24 hours late. We have put a claim into Lufthansa under EC 261/2004 but they have only offered 250 Euros saying the flight from Rio to Iguaza was under 3,500KM and that is the only flight they have to look at. It seems odd to me as someone on the same flight who's final destination was Rio will claim 600 Euros.

Could anyone tell me if Lufthansa are correct?

No, they are obviously telling porkies. If their flight was 11 hours late, the claim is for 600 Euros each assuming the delay was not outside their control. If it was due to ATC or weather for example, then they may be no claim for compensation, only for care during the delays, but there is an entire sub forum for delays and I suggest you continue your queries there
