I used opera with free vpn but the vpn no longer works. Any ideas how to fix it. it just says connecting continually since windows 10 spent 30 mins doing updates yet again.

You'll probably find it's your AV stopping it. Turn off your AV and give it a go on site you trust to check.

I have a vague recollection that the free vpn was only valid a year? No idea how they check as I do not use this.

You could try https://www.epicbrowser.com/ It covers 8 countries

I use Private Internet Access http://https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/ and have done for the last 3 years.

Its not free as it costs me approx £30 for the year, and it gives me access to a website that gives me access to all the latest TV shows that is banned here in the UK.

    I recommend them !

Epic just acts like duckduckgo - it doesn't offer any way of pretending that you are using it in a specific place ( which is what I need)

If the new plans for making sure there is age verification for !!!!!! sites come to be and are intrusive then I can see VPNs undergoing a vast rise in popularity.

It's not just !!!!!! sites, any gambling sites and any sites showing any form of nudity can be classed as adult only.
The Government refuses to lay legislation that would enforce the privacy of any information held by the verification company.
If I was a politician I'd be extremely embarrassed about this legislation.
Another indication that they have no idea what they are doing when it comes to anything slightly technical.

Agree with your point that is more sites than just !!!!!!. The Govt have a poor IT track record and this shambles is well represented by the fact it is supposed to start shortly and no-one has any idea how it will operate so it will start with confusion and loopholes.
