They will dry out. They are often exposed to the elements for weeks when the house is built.

I wouldn't panic. Presumably, this doesn't happen every time it rains and it's unlikely to happen again for a good few years.

Thanks, i'll be keeping an eye after every rain shower from now on just in case.

Are you sure it is not condensation, very common this time of year in attics.
