O.m.g!!!!

Woke up this morning to find drips falling from the ceiling onto my face.
In the attic i have drips coming out of the end of the felt sheets from the roof and the water going through the insulation down into the house.
This is the first time i've noticed this and wondered if it might have something to do with this recent snow.
I'm wondering if the roof is failing, most of the problem is over the one side of the roof down by the guttering, the vents are clear so i don't think that's the problem.
I notice wet patched on the wooden trusses s which concerns me in case they might rot.
The house is not even that old it was built in 1976.
I'm wondering if i might need a new roof however, this would make me the first person in this whole area to need a new roof.

Have you been in the loft space to have a look?

I had a look last night and this morning, i can see drips coming from the upper end of the felt sheets down by where the roof narrows towards the north end of the house (near to the guttering).
There are one or two wet joists around the attic also but the only visible dripping is coming out of the end of the internal felt sheets.

Needing a new roof is a bit dramatic. Most likely needs a roof repair or caused by a build up of snow on that part of the roof. See if the leak continues when the snow has gone.

I had similar quite a few years ago. Melting snow in a valley pushed over the lead flashing and under the felt.

I have now re-booted it under a better title, i wanted to use a title which would get people looking to avoid a lack of replies.

Good idea, i'll see what happens then because the snow seems to be thawing now, my main worry is the wooden joists and trusses getting wet.

Looks like the felt sheets inside are sagging down with moisture, when i move one of the sheets i can see outside through a gap up in the tiles!

Perhaps next time I post a question, I'll title it "Kanye West Ate My Hamster!"

Can we stick with this thread please?

The snow was driven by strong winds and some went in through that and maybe other gaps and past the sagging felt. You didn't have the same problem when it rained, so you can probably afford to relax.

If you want to stop the felt sagging, a piece of roofing batten cut to size and nailed in place will hold it up. Did that on my house before I re-roofed.

The wet on the joists etc won't make them rot; it's temporary.

Obviously get a roofer you trust up there to look, but those guys are going to be busy in the coming weeks I'd think!

OP didn't think to edit; just started another thread, knocking someone else's off the front page. But hey-ho....
