Bought a very sick puppy

  • I'm so sorry you are going through this it must be heart breaking. There are some awful breeders out there unfortunately. However I just wanted to add there are some excellent breeders too. My boy came from one, they keep in regular contact (and have done for 6+) years during the initial stages I had a telephone interviewed by them and several emails before I could even come and see their pups.

There are lots of lovey dogs in rescue (and my next will be a rescue) that need good homes but sometime is isn't the right option for people.

I hope you succeed with the court action and your pup has a happy and full life in what is clearly a very loving home.

There are no health checks required by the KC for heart problems.

Registered breeders- anybody who bred the litter and who pays their money to register a puppy whose parents are registered dogs. The health tests below are only recommended, not mandatory. There are no guarantees with it.

Assured breeders- those who sign up to a tighter code must do hip scoring and annual eye testing.
Other testing for Elbow grading 2) DNA test - prcd-PRA are only recommended

However, if the breeder knowingly sold a pup with a medical problem without telling the buyer then they may take action against the breeder by banning future registrations form them for a certain time. But don't hold your breath.

I am so sorry and sad to hear this. Trust me I feel you! Sometimes you get so attached to your pet that it breaks your heart to see him sick.
Why don't you ask the breeder for a full refund if she knew the fellow was sick all along? Because what she did was nothing but pure cheating.
I have to mention that it is so impressive to hear the way you take care of the dog just like a child. Most pet owners wouldn't do that and its understandable that you have your limit on costs.
I sure hope your doggy gets through this soon and all I can say is that my prayers are with you and your pet.

The breeder has offered a refund but wants the puppy returned- probably knowing full well that that is unlikely to happen.
