Just been catching up with the end of yesterday's thread.
Csarina I hope your DD will make a full recovery; what an awful shock for you.
Tru I'm pleased you've been able to see to Scampi's nail. I think I'd have been tempted to get a crepe bandage and do a makeshift muzzle!!:D
Gers ouchy! I feel your pain; I took a fall a while back and ended up with my right thigh a wondrous palette of varying blues and purples. I hope your knee is feeling better by now.
Holly I totally understand the CBA feeling; there are, I'm ashamed to say, days when I haven't even bothered to dress. And when I do, I can't decide for myself what to wear, I just take whatever Mr LW hauls out of the drawer. Good idea to make some decent meals up ready; maybe if you're eating a good balanced meal, that will help at least a bit.
Flubberyzing I wholeheartedly agree with listening to what your body tells you it wants. I hope your cold soon goes.
Meet'n'greet with Dusty Dog has been rescheduled for Thursday; it's a tad warmer here (as in slightly above freezing) so hoping the nasty cold white stuff will start to vanish. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Deleted_User, that must be such a relief, it could have been so much worse.
Birmingham still under quite a lot of snow but the temperature has risen to the dizzy heights of 0° and tomorrow it will be tropical, apparently we will be at 5°. My biggest icicle has melted, the rest are still there.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Gosh CSARINA your DD is one lucky lady to have escaped unscathed after her skirmish with a lorry. Her guardian angel was on her shoulder yesterday no question.
GERS I had a laugh at your expense when you said you had got a bottle of wine from the barn and then had some breakfast. I had shoved a "for" into the sentence and thought you said you'd had some of the wine for breakfast!! I had to read it twice!!
Well I braved the trek through the snow to the main road, after much deliberating, and caught the bus down into town, just to get out of the house for the first time in 5 days. The only thing I needed (but would have survived without) was a bag of carrots of all things. I nipped into M & S for some and picked up a pack of their nice bacon too as I had 20% off on my Sparks card. I popped in Fultons en route for the bus back up and picked up a couple of bargainous items nearing sell by date.
The postman finally made it this morning with a backlog of mail that's been languishing in the sorting office since the last delivery up here on Tuesday. Halleluja!
Enjoy the rest of the day if you can folks and take care if out and about xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
ancientofdays More snow forecast for Birmingham this evening too. Rain tomorrow.
I have a large Icicle outside my living room windows , it is melting slowly . Temp up to 1C now.

:eek: Life is not that bad! :rotfl::rotfl:
Still cold outside, still cosy inside, still reading, still not drinking the wine!0 -
Csarina a hard but sensible decision not to attempt to drive to Nottingham yesterday. I hope your daughter begins to improve enough to get back home.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

I had a busy morning - went to help some neighbours clear their drive (Mr neighbour is disabled), they then came to help clear mine, we then went back down the road to do someone elses and before I knew it there were about 10 of us.
We were in the middle of clearing the road of compacted snow when a film crew from Channel 4 arrived and filmed us, they also spoke to a couple of the neighbours. Tonight on Channel 4 news!
Anyway, it was a great way to meet neighbours and what a great job we've done. Still no gritter and the grit bins still empty but a fantastic sense of acheivement.
I am completely pooped and wont be moving from the sofa all evening - I may even have a glass of Gers' wine!0 -

Well done! I shall look out for you whilst sipping at my wine. It's just waiting for six o'clock.
Lamewolf - thanks, my leg is not so sore and my knee is healing. Just sore now when I try to bend it too much. Ibuprofen gel is doing its' stuff.
The woodpecker has been in the garden for most of the day. Three male blackbirds fighting it out for the most mealworms and two robins doing the same. It's like Peyton Place out there.
I ordered DM a personalised card from Nothonthehighstreet which arrived today, it's really good, I'm so pleased with it.0 -
Hi everyone,
Thanks for starting us off Holly & congrats on your successes. maddiemay!!!8217;s suggestion is a great one which I will try to utilise when I am in a CBA mood :T
Well my snow has all gone, not that I had that much to start with approx. 2.5 inches :rotfl:.
Deleted_User, so glad that your DD was so fortunate - I agree with TA that her guardian Angel was on duty :A
To all those who still have lots of the white stuff, please be careful if out & about & I hope that the warmer temps last long enough to melt the snow & dry the ground surfaces.
camelot1001, fame at last
I had a lovely call from BHF, the young lady who booked the collection of Rag bags, books etc had made a mistake with my location so needed to rebook my collection date. She was most surprised at how pleased I was that she had made a mistake:rotfl:
The 12th is now a VERY big day for us:- BHF picking up 8 large bags of !!!8216;stuff!!!8217;, Council are picking up sofa, mattress, broken office chair & fence panels + carpet fitter coming to put in the spare room & landing & stairs carpets. :j:j
Had a burst of activity this p.m. - foam cleaned a corner of the carpet in the lounge & stacked my !!!8220;go through again!!!8221; crates & boxes. Helped DH put the old carpet & underlay in garage ready for his numerous motorcycle trips to the Tip :rotfl:
Now DH is putting gloss paint on the skirting down the stairs & I am cooking dinner - fried eggs, oven chips, last of the mushrooms fried, baked beans & back bacon - yummy
Have a good night one & all
