What's the cheapest deal you can get with Sky?

I've had Sky for a few years and am down to the entertainment package at around £30 per month, which is too much for how little I use it. I have some stuff recorded which I'd like to keep and/or watch.
I'd like to keep the Sky Plus recording facility to be able to use across whatever channels I have, but maybe just go on the basic package and effectively use it as a Freesat box or whatever they're called. What would be the cheapest basic deal?

You can't be on Entertainment as it's £25 full price although I doubt anyone pays more than £20. You can cancel it and pay Sky to access the recording/playback facilities but I think they charge £10 a month for the privilege.0 -
Get a Freesat pvr and Nowtv sub.0

As Colin says it's £10 a month to keep the "+" functionality of the box (i.e. the recording functions) and you will be able to watch the programs you have recorded on the free channels such as BBC, ITV ect but stuff recorded on say Sky 1 ect will be locked out so you will be as well deleting recordings like that to maximize space.0

Would I still be able to record and use the rewind/fast-forward function on my BT Sport channels?0

I mean if I had the ten quid Sky package plus BT Sport. I understand I wouldn't be able to record at all without this package? BBC and main channels?0 -

BBC and main channels? You need at least the basic package which is now Entertainment, but is actually the old Variety without the children's section, as Sport, Cinema, boxed sets etc are add ons to Entertainment.
If you pay the £10 to access the recording functions then you can record and playback any accessible channel, this would include 3rd party channels such as BT (as far as I'm aware anyway).
You wouldn't be able to play back any recordings from other paid channels such as Sky 1 or Atlantic since you're no longer a subscriber. This would include the Discovery channel recordings if you're a fan as well.
Before someone mentions a Humax box, you can't get BT Sports on them.0
