Hmm surely the 'feeding the llamas and giraffes' element must have some sort of date element, otherwise you could have loads of people turning up to feed them?

Probably works like a hotel. (if) Overbooked, first come first served, the loser gets a refund.

And theyre the type of animals that are constantly eating anyway. Have you ever seen a giraffe not eating? (ive not seen wild ones but captive ones are always munching at the hay nest.)

I don't understand why you and your friend can't use the tickets at a later date as a belated Birthday event. Sometimes this can work out even better than the original date. Go in the summer, when the weather is a lot warmer than it would be normally in March (and no risk of snow storms). I'm not sure I'd choose to go to a Safari/Zoo in March.

I know you said something about work commitments being a problem but can't u both arrange a day's holiday sometime this year?
I second the don't go in March point - Mrs MbW, her mum and I went to London Zoo once in February and the place looked like Gotham Zoo in Batman Returns.

The issue with that establishment may be the doubts over its future.

I don't believe that is an issue any more since the new management team took over.

Just yesterday the Independent reported an RSPCA investigation into the poisoning of a lion at the zoo.

Old news that was covered in the TV programme and down to poisoned meat from the abbattoir, seemingly that batch of meat is still in the freezer waiting for confirmation. I think the RSPCA, as usual, are jumping on a bandwagon that has long gone to try and save their reputation, they did nothing when the zoo was in crisis.

Unfortunately due to the weather and work commitments we can no longer go...................

I told her that regardless of how long the tickets lasted i could no linger go and would probably never go, therefore deeming the “valid for 1 year” term un useful.

The weather is going to be bad all year?

You're going to be working constantly for a whole year?
