Hey everyone. I bought a Macbook Pro for around £1200 back in 2012 and, a few months ago, it stopped working. I took it to Apple who confirmed it was a logic board failure, and was an inherent hardware fault that had received some notable publicity. Thanks again for your helpful replies. The above issue (video issues) is exactly the problem - took it into Apple and they diagnosed it for me but said I'd have to go to PC World (the original retailer) seeing as it wasn't purchased from Apple. I think it's outside of the Extension repair scheme too... so I think that leaves me at a dead end with getting it repaired?
